Gospel artist, Ernest Opoku

Award-winning Gospel musician and songwriter Ernest Opoku has recounted his encounter with German Immigration Officers and how God saved him from getting into trouble for alleged smuggling.

According to the ace musician, while traveling from Ghana to Germany, he was detained at the airport for possessing something he had no idea about.

Ernest Opoku narrated:

“I Remember I was traveling to Germany and when I got to their Airport, I was told there was footwear (long boot) they suspect had some hidden items in it. I didn’t also know who kept it in my bag. It was my own luggage which I packed myself.  They told me there is a shoe in your bag and I said I have no idea about it”.

Ernest Opoku

He revealed that the officer opened the bag and indeed there was a shoe that they suspected contained some substance.

A few hours into his detention while investigations were ongoing, he prayed to God who gave him a new song which he later recorded with the title “Onyame Nim”.

Ernest Opoku revealed that one of the officers went for all his belongings that his colleague took from him and told him to leave without waiting for the search and scanning to be completed.

He narrated:

“Eventually when they opened,  there was a shoe, but surprisingly it wasn’t a pair. So they detained me and cut the shoe into pieces and scanned it in their machine. It’s at that point where I said to God, (in Twi) you know all my needs and all that I’m coming into this country to do so don’t let my enemies rejoice”.

Ernest Opoku recounted:

“Whiles I was singing the song, one of them who had come for his evening shift enquired about my problem and I told him they came for my luggage. He quickly entered the room, brought all my bags, and asked me to leave immediately because they were about to close”.

Stop judging Gospel Musicians

The Gospel musician Ernest Opoku asked Ghanaians not to judge people like him in everything they do because they are all human.

According to the singer, most people especially Ghanaians expect so much from Gospel musicians to the extent that any little mistake musicians commit, the public begins to crucify them thinking as if they are angels who will never go wrong.

The award-winning artiste made this statement during his interview while addressing some controversies and unusual news that surround him in the music industry, especially in respect of his stalled relationship with actress Nayas.

Speaking in an interview, the sensational singer categorically stated that people must stop judging them because they are also humans and not superhuman as many perceive them to be.

He stressed:

“The problem with most Africans is that they see we Gospel musicians as Angels but that is not true, we are just like any other person, of course, we are humans”.

In another statement, the legendary Gospel musician claimed that he once received a BJ from an unknown lady on a VIP bus when he was heading to Accra some years ago.

He made this revelation during the interview.

He said:

“From Kumasi to Accra, I sat in a VIP bus at night, and a woman I didn’t recognize from any place sat down next to me. And after a while, she began to nod off and lean on me, so I politely requested that she change positions. Thus, she leaned against the glass.

“I put in my earphone and listened to Elder Mireku’s music for a while before drifting off to sleep. I awoke from my slumber when I felt a shift in the air, and when I looked up, I saw that the woman in question had my penis in her mouth, to which I yelled, “Jesus!”.

Ernest Opoku

After his disclosure, he was asked by the host if he enjoyed the act to which he responded by saying due to how the thing happened, he was shocked and all he did was slap her across the back to prevent her from continuing the act.
