Mahama Against Government Seeking Debt Cancellation Forgiveness

John Dramani Mahama

John Dramani Mahama has launched a fresh attack against the government, for seeking debt forgiveness.

Mahama discarded his patriotic toga, saying the decision of the Akufo-Addo-led government to seek debt cancellation, was going to affect future generations.

According to him, he is strongly against such a decision by the government, since the foreign bodies who usually give loans to Ghana will stop giving out fresh loans in the future and it’s going to affect the next generation.

“We (Ghana) have declared bankruptcy, saying we can’t pay our debts and so our Minister for Finance is going around begging everybody to forgive us some of our debts. I tell the young people that it’s going to affect you. Because tomorrow, when you become President or a Member of Parliament and you go to look for money for developmental projects, the people will tell you that your father and your father’s people came and took loans from us and they didn’t pay, so we won’t give you.”

John Dramani Mahama

“If you borrow money and you didn’t pay, when you go and ask for some again, will they give you? Mahama asked the NDC delegates and they responded “Nooo, they won’t”, adding that “So, Ghanaians are looking up to you (NDC Members) to rescue them from the current economy hardship of the Akufo-Addo government.”

Mr. Mahama averred that after 66 years of Ghana’s independence, the country is currently bankrupt due to the bad economic policies of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia Administration, and then claiming that it is only the NDC, who Ghanaians are looking up to.

According to the Former President, the Vice President and other members of the Economic Management Team of this government, are now running away from taking responsibility for the bad management of Ghana’s economy.

“… they are behaving as if they were not part of it. All of them dey inside, they all have contributed to the mess in which we are. Because when Vice President Bawumia was saying, “Our Economic Management Team, we have Professor Gyan Baffour, we have Alan Kyerematen, we have honorable Osafo-Maafo, we have Ken Ofori-Atta…What a solid team.”

“This is a solid team. This is where the solid team has gotten us,” the former President added, after mimicking the Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia.

Mahama Cautions Youth To Vote For The NDC In Order To Secure A Future

John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), says no youthful person concerned about their future and the state of the country, should vote to maintain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2024.

According to the former President who is on a 3-day tour of the Eastern Region, the wild and unnecessary borrowing by the New Patriotic Party, has endangered the future of the country for the next 10 years.

Addressing branch and constituency executives in Yilo Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region, Mr. Mahama rallied the youth to vote the NDC back into power, to save the situation. He claimed to have observed that the country is choked with debts, making it impossible to pay back.

“The NPP government is destroying the future of the youth with excessive borrowing. Those who took the loans, how many years are left for them to leave the surface of the earth to join God? The creditors will not give the future generation loans, due to the failure of this government to settle its loans.

“If you are concerned about your future, don’t vote for the NPP government that has put us in this situation. Listen to your conscience, they have spoilt the future of Ghana. For the next ten years, it will be difficult to go outside for loans. They have done enough damage to the country; they should pack out.”

Moreover, former president John Dramani Mahama stated that the next NDC government will take inventory of all uncompleted projects and ensure their completion. The flagbearer hopeful of the NDC, stated that the decision by the current government to abandon projects started under the NDC, has been one of the major damages to the country. John Mahama said that it is a top priority of the next NDC government to complete all stalled projects under this government.
