NPP Presidential Primaries: More MPs Support Alan In Secret- Bright Bakye Yelviel Baligi

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen

Bright Bakye Yelviel Baligi, a member of parliament for Lambussie Constituency, has refuted accusations that majority of the NPP members of parliament (MPs) are behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his attempt to lead the New Patriotic Party to victory in the 2024 Presidential elections.

He claims that more MPs covertly back former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen as a strong contender to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 General Elections.

As part of Alan Kyerematen’s tour of the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Yelviel Baligi addressed NPP supporters during a public durbar at Dome-Kwabenya, insisting that they should vote for a candidate who would win the elections for the ruling party.

He said that since they are worried about losing their jobs and seats in Parliament, MPs are not open about their support for Alan Kyerematen.

“MPs tell us this and let me tell you this. Don’t be shaking, don’t be alarmed, don’t be scared about any figures that people are throwing out there [that] this number of MPs or 118 MPs support a particular candidate.

“It is not true. I repeat it is not true. Individuals can talk about their support but you can’t talk about where others belong. I know what I am talking about and at the appropriate time we will talk about it.”

As the NPP is getting ready to select its Flagbearer for the elections in 2024, it is currently going through the vetting processes and will be finished on July 6th. The party set the election for its Presidential candidate for Saturday, November 4.

Ten candidates have so far declared their interest in leading the party into its ninth election. However, the front-runners seem to be Dr. Bawumia and Mr. Kyerematen, who both underwent vetting on Monday, July 3.

Alan Is Ghana’s Next President

In the first round of the novel cluster constituency meetings with party delegates all around the nation, Minister of Railways, John Peter Amewu supported Alan Kyerematen’s campaign for President.

After Alan Kyerematen visited the three Ablekuma constituencies; North, South, and Central, together known as zone one, there were cries of “no Alan; no vote,” “Alan the people’s choice,” among other things, leading to Mr. Amewu’s endorsement.

Mr. Kyerematen, affectionately known as “Alan Cash,” received his honor for his successful tenure as the previous Minister of Trade and Industry, during which time he opened up opportunities for employment by establishing factories and providing trade incentives.

Business executives, decision-makers, and Ghanaians in general have praised him for his noteworthy accomplishments in reviving industrialization through the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative and the policies and programs included in his Great Transformational Plan (GTP).

Moreover, Mr. Amewu claims that Alan Kyerematen is well known for being marketable because of his capacity to relate with people from all walks of life. He further stated that as seen by the large turnout, his charismatic demeanor and genuine care for the welfare of Ghanaians have won him the favor of delegates around the nation.

He also highlighted Kyerematen’s charismatic nature and his continuous commitment to serving the people of Ghana, which accoring to him, distinguishes Mr. Kyerematen as a great statesman.

Over the course of his three decades in politics, Alan Kyerematen has held a number of important roles, including two terms as Minister for Trade and Industry under the NPP.

According to Hon. Amewu, the former Trade and Industry Minister had a thorough awareness of the complexities of government and policy-making because of his long experience.

“His proven track record of effective leadership and successful policy implementation positions him as a candidate capable of delivering on his promises, driving sustainable development, and leading Ghana into a prosperous future.”

The endorsement of Hon. Amewu, among others, adds to the growing acceptance of Alan Kyerematen as the favored choice to lead the NPP into 2024 as the Nationwide Constituency durbars continue to reverberate throughout Ghana.
