Fadda Dickson Rejected My Return – Andy Dosty

Radio show host, Andy Dosty

Radio show host, Andy Dosty has revealed that his return to the media corporation owned by business mogul, Dr. Osei Kwame Despite after leaving Despite Media to spend five years with Angel FM, was rejected.

Andy Dosty disclosed that while the owner of the company initially accepted the idea of his return, the final decision was in the hands of Managing Director, Fadda Dickson.

“I wanted to go back to Despite, but they said no… Their policy is that when you leave, you can’t come back”, Andy Dosty explained.

“In fact, I went there to apologize. I met Mr. Despite at an event, and he warmly welcomed me, inviting me to return when I was available. However, when I made my visit, the situation had changed. I distinctly remember what Fadda Dickson told me: ‘You are good, and we need someone like you, but you were not loyal’”.

According to Andy Dosty, this experience served as a valuable lesson in loyalty. “…my thoughts were childish because, at the time when I was leaving, Mr. Despite had plans to offer me double the compensation I was receiving from Dr. Kwaku Oteng of Angel Group of Companies. Despite tried his best to retain me”, Andy Dosty reflected.

He further added expressing regret over betraying the owner of the Despite Media Group. “The sad part is, of all the employees working with Despite, I was the closest to him”, he said.

Ace disc jockey, Andy Dosty recalled an incident with a radio station owner, describing the encounter as his worst experience in the field. The veteran who started his trade with Radio Mercury in Kumasi said aside from the fact that he never received remuneration, the owner who was a chief, treated him with contempt.

“My first radio job was with Mercury but the man never paid me. He was a chief. I think of all the workers, I was the one he never appreciated”, Andy Dosty said.

“My worst experience was when I was on the radio playing songs. He approached me and asked; ‘ What kind of stupid songs are you playing?’. I said it was a brand-new song from Tupac. He asked me to stop, handed over Kakaku’s cassette and asked me to play that instead”.

Recounting some difficult moments

Andy Dosty recounted some difficult moments he encountered at the prime of his career.

Recounting the painful experience, Andy said he bought a 3-bedroom house at Nhyieso, a suburb of Kumasi, but lost ownership to someone who suddenly showed up with a more convincing document claiming the property was his.

The celebrated DJ cum broadcaster recalled how he helplessly watched his properties slip through his fingers after being swindled sometime between 2011 and 2012.

Andy said the real estate agent who sold the property to him had earlier sold it to another person, adding that the ‘untruthful’ middleman had since gone into hiding.

In another unfortunate encounter, Andy shared how he lost his car to a musician named Kwesi Sellasie. He recounted that he had sold the car to the young man, but had not received payment or seen the vehicle since.

“A musician approached me that he wants to buy one of my cars and I gave it to him. To date, I haven’t seen him. He is called Kwesi Sellasie and he lives in Canada. To date, I haven’t heard from him or set my eyes on him. I don’t know his whereabouts. He took the car to Agona Nsaba and I never saw my car or received any money for payment”.

Andy Dosty

Andy refuted suggestions that Kwesi Sellasie may have passed away, which could explain the lack of communication. “Nothing has happened to him. He is still alive, though. One thing I am not good at is selling my properties. When you’re not lucky with those things, you end up with the barest minimum”, Andy Dosty stated.
