Divorce Is Not A Sin – Brother Sammy

Controversial gospel artist, Brother Sammy has asserted that divorce is not a sin despite the fact that biblical teachings oppose the idea.

The gospel artist suggested that it would be intelligent for marriage to be done on a contract basis so that aggrieved persons would have the right to quit if they were uncomfortable.

According to him, the recent rise in divorce cases in the country including pastors, buttresses his assertion that the collapse of marriages is not a sin.

Brother Sammy encouraged individuals who are being maltreated in marriage to quit as early as possible.

“Marrying a pastor is not difficult, you just have to understand them. Most pastors have divorced their wives to marry again. It [divorce] is not a sin. Most people have married witches. If you stay in a marriage and die out of maltreatment, then you are the most foolish person. Because you could have quit since you went into it yourself. Jesus that people are so concerned about when it comes to marriage, did he marry? I don’t understand why people don’t divorce when they’re being maltreated citing the kids”.

The controversial gospel artist further called on the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to make sure couples sign an annual contract where they have the right to renew or not depending on the situation at hand.

“To me, I will plead with Nana Akuffo-Addo to make marriage a yearly contract where people have the right to renew or not depending on how they feel. But when a woman is being told to stay in a marriage even when they are not comfortable because of the children, it’s worrying”, he said.

Criticizing current trends in Christianity

Brother Sammy stated that dreadlocks, piercings, and wearing skinny jeans are not classified as a sin even though most Christians frown upon such acts.

The gospel musician noted that the stigmatization of such people in the church has discouraged some Ghanaians, especially the youth from attending religious services.

He explained that the contemporary way of Christianity condemns persons, who are in dreadlocks and piercings, but that should not be the case because we are in a new era.

Brother Sammy criticized the current trends in Christianity and restated that dreadlocks and piercing are not a sin as most people believe.

“Is dreadlocks a sin? Why have we lowered the bar on Christianity? It is not done that way. In Christianity, if you don’t make yourself pitiful, it means that God is not with you, but that is not the case. Even when Jesus died, the soldiers gambled on his attire to own it which meant the garment was expensive.

“Now due to the way we have made Christianity, nice guys can’t even go to church anymore. They feel shy when they go to church with piercings because everybody will be staring at them like a god. If a male piercing is wrong, then females should not do so. No one was born into the world with a piercing so it shouldn’t be so”.

Brother Sammy

The gospel artist believes harboring the mentality of criticizing people will hamper the quest of Christians to win more souls for Christ.

“Because of the way we criticize things in the church, people have stopped going to church, especially the guys. If that continues, it will be difficult to win souls for Christ. We are making it seem like unless you make yourself archaic, you are not seen as a Christian”, Brother Sammy further stated.
