This comes after Marlian Record label boss, Naira Marley, claimed he is making arrangements to return to Nigeria to honor police invitation following the ongoing investigation into Mohbad’s death.

The embattled show promoter, in a statement released on Friday, September, following his arrest by the police over an ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of the Afrobeat star, said that the late singer owed him money and refused to pay. He thus, recounted what transpired.

“Two years ago, I gave N2 million to lleri to perform at my mother’s annual remembrance concert in lkorodu. The boy never turned up, so I called him to ask why. He then said he was not feeling well, and when I asked for a refund, he said he lost his phone and money recently when the NDLEA raided his place. Since he was leaving Marlian Records, he claimed he was now broke and had no commitment to repay.

“I left it at that. Later, I heard that this same boy was having a music video shoot next door, practically on the next street to my house. So, I went there to ask for my money again. We had an argument that lasted 5 minutes. Even one of his friends insisted he was going to pay the money. Up until today, not one kobo has been repaid, and this incident happened early last year. I have since moved on.”

Sam Larry continued by saying, “I traveled to Kenya to find a new African act that can perform at my mother’s concert this year. I have been away since August 20th, and till now, I don’t know anything other than what was written in the blogs and the press. I don’t even know where he lives.”

He also disclosed that he only knew his former label boss and their house. “I don’t know any nurse, doctor, or hospital. I don’t know anything about his movements. I don’t have that time. I have lost a lot more money than that before; you win some, you lose some,” Sam Larry added.

Sam Larry concluded the statement by saying, “That is my story, case closed. I came here willingly and happily. I know nothing about how the musician died.”

Alleging Of Prime Suspect

Uche Maduagwu

Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu alleged that he was offered a 3 million Naira bribe to paint the wife of the late rapper, Mohbad as the “prime suspect” in his sudden death.

He revealed that the people who attempted to bribe him also asked him to use his social media platform to agitate for a DNA test for Mohbad’s five-month-old son.

The actor in a video message shared via his Instagram page recently, said he was instructed to allege that the late singer is not the biological father of his son, Liam.

However, he rejected the offer because he was not a member of Mohbad’s family to demand for a DNA test to be conducted on his son.

“I just have to say this right now. I was offered N3 million in Lekki on the 15th of September. The person who approached me said I should come on social media to twist the story [of Mohbad’s sudden demise]; that I should claim his wife is the number one suspect,” Maduagwu said.

“He also said I should agitate for a DNA test for her child, that the late singer is not the biological father of the child. But I said to myself, I’m not a member of Mohbad’s family. I’m not even his best friend. My people, I need money but I said I will not do it. If I see the person that approached me, if I see his picture, I will recognize him,” he further stated.

It can be recalled that Mohbad died in a controversial manner on September 12, 2023, and was buried the next day. His body was exhumed 9 days after for autopsy to aid the ongoing police investigation.
