Nothing To Show For The Reckless Spending By the Government – MzVee

Ghanaian songstress, MzVee

Ghanaian songstress, Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, popularly known as MzVee, has fumed at the reckless spending by the government.

MzVee who recently arrived in the country after spending four months in the USA, revealed there is nothing to show for the huge sums of money the government usually receives from other institutions and countries.

“I don’t even know what they do with some of the amounts they collect from IMF with the huge sums I have not even heard of before,” MzVee shared her stance on the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protest.

“The amounts that they are collecting are so huge that I have never heard of before so if you are collecting all that money and we don’t even see anything happening in the country, then what’s the essence,” she quizzed.

MzVee further added by touching on the extent of neglect and the government’s failure to fix the dilapidated infrastructure in the country.

“When you travel outside and you’re landing in a foreign country you see the layouts and the roads nicely done but when you are landing in Ghana it’s so bad,” MzVee lamented.

Amid the recurring debate over the issue of flood, Mzvee defended the government.

According to her, citizens should also share some of the blame due to irresponsible waste disposal.

She, moreover, stressed that citizens cannot be absolved of responsibility because their disregard for safety and haphazard way of living contributes significantly to the flooding problem.

“Our drainage system is really horrible, and the government has to look at that. We can’t blame everything on the government, although the government is to be blamed a lot, but I feel the citizens must also take the blame. If you see the amount of plastic bottles, I don’t think the government came to put them there, so I think we’re all to blame for these things.”

MzVee further revealed why she was not spotted at the Occupy Julorbi House protests.

Several Ghanaian celebrities came out to join citizens in the demonstration exercise organized by the pressure group “Democracy Hub”.

“Me I just came back from America and I just came back and when I came back I had to do some rounds. But as for this country, I don’t know but I think our leaders don’t care about us that much and that’s what I can say,” she said.

The ‘Borkor Borkor’ hitmaker said that the government has completely ignored the citizens.

“The government has completely ignored us and they are not doing what they are supposed to do and they’re spending the money anyhow,” MzVee fumed.

Bad people in the music space exploit artists

MzVee revealed that there are bad people in the music space who want to exploit artists.

Advising emerging artists, MzVee remarked that they should be very patient and they’ll find the right people to work with.

“When I’m asked to advise people about the music and stuff, the one thing I say is to be very patient,” MzVee said.

She disclosed that there are good people and bad people in the industry, adding that there are people who are ready to exploit emerging artists, use them, and just leave them because they don’t think about the artists but themselves [the bad people] first.

“So my advice is always to be very patient and you’ll find the right people to move with but it’s not easy, the space is very competitive,” she said.

“People are going through so much just to get their names heard and their voices heard and their faces seen, so you need to be extremely patient to find the right people to work with,” she further added.
