Chairman Wontumi Threatens To Order For The Arrest Of Kennedy Agyapong

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has strongly issued a warning to cause the arrest of flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong if he made any threatening statement against his life again.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Chairman Wontumi noted that he does not take the threats from the NPP flagbearer aspirant lightly as the threats on the life of Tiger Eye PI journalist, Ahmed Suale by the Assin Central Member of Parliament’s, eventually led to his death.

This comes after Kennedy Agyapong during his “Showdown Walk” in Kumasi over the weekend accused Chairman Wontumi and the Vice President of collapsing the New Patriotic Party.

“I love NPP, I will never say anything against the party or Kennedy Agyapong. I will always ensure the progress of the party. I will let the police arrest you if you threaten me again with your showdown comments. I’m advising you against such comments, your threats on Ahmed Suale’s life caused his death.

I’m not interested in you losing the elections, but please tell delegates what you can do for the party and desist from spewing derogatory comments against party members, and polling station agents. Just try to apologize to them. You have insulted chiefs, judges, and everyone in the country, everybody knows what you can do, change your attitude”.

Chairman Wontumi Admonishes Kennedy Agyapong To Focus On His Campaign

Mr. Boasiako admonished the Assin Central Member of Parliament and the New Patriotic Party flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong to focus on his campaign ahead of the party’s upcoming November 4 National Delegate Conference rather than attacking him.

He also justified his directive ordering for all of Alan Kyerematen’s posters at various party offices to be removed after the former Trade and Industry Minister resigned from the party and declared his intention to run as an independent candidate.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has expressed doubts about the party’s chances in the impending 2024 election.

According to the former Food and Agriculture Minister the New Patriotic Party is currently running a serious risk of losing the election as a result of the demoralization of its core followers.

Dr Afriyie Akoto made these remarks in Kumasi, Ghana, where he is currently on a media tour ahead of the party’s National Delegates’ Conference on November 4th.

He made the point that the current poor morale among NPP activists across the nation, who had hoped for a higher standard of living, suggests that the party may not be in a good position to break the eight.

“It is clear to me that morale is very low. The expectation of our activists around the country for a better life has not been realized so the NPP is not in a good place to contest to retain power next year and we have to address this issue seriously.”

Dr. Afryie Akoto

He made a plea to the party delegates, asking them to pick him as the party leader on November 4th to make their votes matter.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto stressed that his leadership is inextricably related to the welfare and prosperity of the New Patriotic Party, citing his in-depth knowledge of practical issues gained from his time serving as a member of parliament in Kwadaso, Kumasi.

“Anybody who aspires to bear the flag of the NPP should be the priority. I have a very clear understanding of the problems on the ground, I have been a Member of Parliament at Kwadaso so I understand the concerns expressed by activists on the ground”.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto

The New Patriotic Party is expected to hold its National Delegates Conference on November 4 to elect its flagbearer for the 2024 General Elections

The contest now seems to exist between the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong after the withdrawal of the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen from the race and his subsequent resignation from the party.
