Kufour Did Not Bring Me Into Politics – Alan

Alan Kyerematen

The Independent Candidate and Founder of Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, has hinted on his interest in forming an alliance with Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, NPP’s aspiring flagbearer.

According to Mr. Kyerematen, the vision and ideas of Kennedy Agyapong, fit well into his plans for the country hence his consideration.

He believes they will therefore make a good pair.

“For me, whatever I talk about as my wish for this country, it all boils down to business and he is talking about business. So let’s see.”

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen

He, however, indicated that he would prefer that he wait for the end of the NPP’s November 4th elections first. Should he see the possibility afterward, he will consider it.

“So let’s wait for them to finish the elections. If we see a possibility to form an alliance after the elections, then we will sit to see how far that will go.”

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen

Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen explains that his decision is firmly rooted in the wishes of the Ghanaian people. He believes the alliance will be very beneficial to the Ghanaian people.

“What I can say is that when you listen to the majority of Ghanaians that is what they are hoping will happen. And if that will be the case, I will oblige. I also think that will help the country.”

Kennedy Vows Not To Leave NPP

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and flagbearer candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has given an assurance that he will accept defeat and support the party should he not win the November 4th Elections on fairgrounds.

Notwithstanding the outcome of the November 4th election, either fair or not fair, he said he would not leave the party.

However, he indicated that if he does not win as a result of unfairness, he will take a very reserved position in the party.

“Why not? I am a party man. Why not? You see when you are going into an election, you should know that it is 50-50, you can win and you, you can lose. So why will you leave the party if you lose? I will only say otherwise when there is no fairness. I won’t leave, I will just keep quiet and watch what they will do.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Mr. Agyapong was however confident that he would win following his hard work on his campaign. He commended himself as the only candidate who has extended recognition to polling station executives by visiting them, all over the country, personally to ask for their votes. He called himself a pacesetter for that matter.

Following the withdrawal of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen from the November 4th NPP Primaries, many analysts concluded that the race for the flagbearer had become a two-horse race.

The race which is clearly between Vice President Bawumia and Honourable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has gotten very intense.

Both camps have made accusations and counter-accusations about the other.

Many political analysts have predicted that should Kennedy lose the elections, he might consider following the path chartered by Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen by leaving the party.

In the event that happens, then the alliance Alan craves will become more than ripe. The potential of the alliance however is a very debatable one.

Given the long years of service of both politicians, they will no doubt amass a huge following. Also, they might be able to convert the following into a high number of votes, especially among many Ghanaians who are tired of the NDC-NPP duopoly.

However, demographics of the Ghanaian politics may not be on their side so much. Both of them are Akans and very popular in the Ashanti region.

Thus, for nothing at all, their alliance will be the biggest threat to the NPP’s chance of an honourable defeat in the 2024 general elections. Ashanti being the political engine of the New Patriotic Party, the New Patriotic Party will suffer immensely from this alliance.
