Kennedy Vows Not To Leave NPP

Kennedy Agyapong, 2024 Flagbearer Candidate-NPP

Kennedy Agyapong, 2024 Flagbearer Candidate-NPP

The Member of Parliament for Assin Central and flagbearer candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has given an assurance that he will accept defeat and support the party should he not win the November 4th Elections on fairgrounds.

Notwithstanding the outcome of the November 4th election, either fair or not fair, he said he would not leave the party.

He indicated, though, that if he does not win as a result of unfairness, he will take a very reserved position in the party.

“Why not? I am a party man. Why not? You see when you are going into an election, you should know that it is 50-50, you can win and, you can lose. So why will you leave the party if you lose? I will only say otherwise when there is no fairness. I won’t leave, I will just keep quiet and watch what they will do.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Mr. Agyapong was however confident that he would win following his hard work on his campaign. He commended himself as the only candidate who has extended recognition to polling station executives by visiting them, all over the country, personally to ask for their votes. He called himself a pacesetter for that matter.

“You see, the delegates will vote for me because, I am the only one in the history of this country, NPP, the only flagbearer candidate that has gone down to the polling station executives to ask them and plead with them to vote for me. Nobody has given the polling station executive respect and now because of me, I am a pacesetter, now everybody is going to see polling station executives.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

He bemoaned the struggles of the polling station executives whom he emphasized he has been fighting for since the beginning of his political career.

“I went to them constituency by constituency asking for their votes, giving them respect, giving them recognition. I am the only one who has given the polling station executives or delegates recognition that they also matter, that their votes count and that their voice also counts. So that alone is a plus. Before that, mine is not fake because right from inception, I have always been fighting for the delegates. The hard work they put up and in the long run they ignore them. They don’t get anything. When they want anything, they have to go through layers of whatever they call it.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Mr. Agyapong thus expressed his confidence in garnering about 120,000 of the 200,000 votes up for grabs on November 4th because he is the only man who gives hope or symbolizes hope.

Kennedy Predicts 10% to 15% For Alan

Meanwhile, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has predicted that Alan Kyerematen who resigned from the NPP to contest as an independent candidate could pull some 10% to 15% of the votes in the 2024 general elections.

According to him, any person who denies the threat Alan Kyerematen’s independent candidature poses to the NPP is not a good politician.

He believes Alan will do well because of his popularity in the Ashanti Region.

“Anybody who tells you Alan Kyerematen’s exit will not pose a challenge to the NPP, then the person is not a good politician, of course, yes. You see you can call his bluff but the day you will see what will happen. With all due respect to Osofo Kyiri-abosom, Osofo Kyiri-abosom, he came and got 3%. How can you say that Alan will not get 10% or 15%? Yes, of course.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Mr. Agyapong believes strongly that Alan is the most popular in the Ashanti region compared to Mahama and Bawumia.

“Yeah, look, in the Ashanti region, they are just deceiving themselves. When they see Bawumia here, Mahama her, Alan here, Alan will sweep the votes.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

He further indicated that beyond the popularity of Alan in the Ashanti region, his personality made him affable and loved by many, especially those who did not like his “Kennedy” style.

“I am telling you. This afternoon I told one guy. He said, oh no! They will vote for NPP. They are joking.  And let me tell you, Alan’s personality besides Ashanti, people love him the way he is.

“You see, when I was young, I was chasing a girl who was in Legon doing her masters. I was staying at Madina. I picked the girl and I am NPP and she was going to vote for Rawlings. I asked why she was going to vote for Rawlings and she said, “The man is handsome”. Simple! Her reason for going to vote for the man is that the man is handsome.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Admitting that the Vice President is as well as handsome as Alan Kyerematen, he mentioned that the Vice President is unfortunate to be in government, however.

“But that is the truth, so Alan can sweep those who want a handsome president. Vice President Bawumia is a very handsome, nice person but this time is not his time because unfortunately for him he has been part of the government that Ghanaians are annoyed with.”

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong

Mr. Agyapong urged that the party should talk Alan out of his decision to improve the chances of the NPP in 2024 General Elections.
