A group of polling station executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency of the Ashanti Region have debunked claims that they have defected from the camp of Kennedy Agyapong and Alan Kyerematen to Dr Mahmoud Bawumia’s camp.

According to them, they are resolute and solidly behind Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, whom they intimated is the most credible among the aspirants to lead the party to win the 2024 general elections.

Addressing a press conference at the forecourt of the constituency party office at Boamang in the Afigya Kwabre North constituency, the Kyekyewere Polling Station Organizer, Osei Assibey Chaucer emphatically dismissed claims by some party supporters who claimed to be loyalists of Kennedy Agyapong and Alan Kyerematen but have defected to join the Vice President team.

He explained that it was only one Aziz Ismail who is a polling station executive at Kwaman Methodist and surrounded himself with some non-delegates and declared their support to Vice President Dr. Bawumia,

Mr Osei Assibey stressed that such a decision was unilateral and did not reflect the decision of the entire polling station executives of Afigya Kwabre North.

He further argued that as loyal members of Kennedy Agyapong, they are aware of his competence and no one can deceive them because they are mature-minded people who make concrete decisions by themselves.

He, however, entreated all delegates to be resolute devoid, and not succumb to any intimidation that will come their way.

While the group called on delegates to remain loyal to the cause of Mr Kennedy Agyapong’s  2024 presidential bid the group also revealed that they will secure about 70 per cent of votes from polling station executives for Mr. Kennedy Agyapong on November 4 to make him the New Patriotic Party flagbearer ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Group Urges Delegates To Vote For Kennedy Agyapong

Moreover, the Afigya Kwabre North Polling Station Executives emphasized that the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Honorable Kennedy Agyapong is a business-oriented person coupled with humility and a hardworking attitude and can never be a failure.

The group therefore called all delegates of the New Patriotic Party for the November 4 National Delegates Conference to vote for Mr. Kennedy Agyapong to enable him to transform Ghana and Africa at large, adding that he stands tall among all other candidates in the November 4, presidential primaries.

Again, the polling executives of the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency entreated the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to deal with intimidations ahead of the November 4 presidential primaries, which they believe could create disaffection in the party.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party Constituency Chairmen in the Ashanti region have petitioned the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi to intervene in the prohibition of camping by Presidential Election Committee ahead of the party’s November 4 National Delegate Conference.

In a letter signed by Dominic Bosompem, the Constituency Chairman of Odotobiri Constituency in the region to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party and copied to President Akufo-Addo, the Chief of Staff, the National Executive Committee of the party and the Ashanti Regional Executives of the party, the Chairmen indicated that they are not pleased with the decision of the Presidential Election Committee to prohibit camping on the day of election.

The New Patriotic Party is expected to hold its National Delegates Conference on November 4 to elect its flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.

The flagbearership race is now between the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. The other contestants include, Dr. Owusu Afryie Akoto, the former Food and Agriculture Minister and Francis Addai -Nimo, former Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
