NDC Urged To Blow Its Trumpet If Dr Bawumia Is Elected As NPP Flagbearer

Dr. Kwabena Arthur Kennedy

Dr. Arthur Kwabena Kennedy, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant has indicated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could secure a victory in the 2024 general election simply by showcasing videos of NPP government officials, particularly the vice president, making promises.

According to the United States-based Ghanaian practising medical doctor, the history of the Vice President makes it easier for the National Democratic Congress to win the 2024 general elections if the New Patriotic Party elect him as its flagbearer tomorrow, November 4 2023.

“A government that has missed most of its promises, and all that the NDC has to do is to show videos of government officials, especially the Vice President, making promises, and when they finish, ask, my fellow Ghanaians, are you better off than you were eight years ago? And that will be the election right there. The question is what is going to be the NPP’s fiction or spin?”.

Dr. Arthur Kwabena Kennedy

Dr. Arthur Kwabena Kennedy further stated that none of the two leading candidates in the New Patriotic Party’s upcoming presidential primaries will be a match for former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 presidential elections.

Moreover, Dr Arthur Kwabena Kennedy asserted that neither of the New Patriotic Party presidential aspirants would have a message to campaign when elected as the flagbearer of the party for the 2024 general elections due to the poor performance of the government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to him, it would be very difficult on the part of any of the New Patriotic Party presidential aspirants to extricate himself from the current government’s poor records particularly the mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy.

“What are they going to run on? I mean to the extent that the government have failed… Apart from Nana Addo himself, Dr Bawumia regardless of who he is, is going to take the brunt of the blame. And if by some miracle Kennedy Agyapong were to beat him, people will remind everybody that he has been a Member of Parliament and has benefited from a lot of the contracts awarded by the government that has made the public unhappy”.

Meanwhile, Dr Asah Asante, a Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana has bemoaned the rising issues of monetization in Ghana’s body politics particularly leading to the New Patriotic Party presidential primaries tomorrow.

Reacting to the news and allegations between the Assin Central Lawmaker, Kennedy Agyapong and the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, the political scientist described the phenomenon as a worrying development.

According to him in a democracy, the people are required to vote for their leaders based on their policies and track record and not otherwise.

“In a democracy, our leaders’ decisions they take, the ideas they draw out if we listen to them and we are satisfied we go with that and we go ahead and vote them into office. We only get there and we are given transport or we demand transport intended for that purpose. For me, that is something we are not doing right. So people have developed this thing to a higher level that whoever can give more you have more people attending to you. Because everybody needs money in this state”.

Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante

Dr. Asante accused both presidential aspirants of being responsible for the monetary inducement on delegates in the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

The New Patriotic Party is scheduled to elect its flagbearer for the 2024 general elections tomorrow, November 4, 2023, among the four presidential aspirants; Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Dr Owusu Afriyie-Akoto and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
