NPP Primaries: Vote Of No Confidence

Dr Bawumia

A member of the NDC’s National Executive Committee, Margaret Ansie, has expressed her disappointment at the performance of the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, in the last NPP primaries.

The vice president who was predicted to win by over 70% by his campaign team, ended up winning albeit with about 61%.

She argued that the performance of Kennedy Agyapong on the race showed how the popular people were disappointed in the incumbent’s performance.

“I think the NPP gave him a message on Saturday. Because Kennedy Agyapong had the popular people’s vote. The real people voted like for him as Alhaji Bawumia has the executives, the legislature, the appointees, and all that; who are not really in the heat but for the sake of the party and all that.

“When I heard him speak, he said he had his vision. Though it was a lengthy speech, I took my time and listened and I was sorry and felt so sorry. There were other posters they did themselves that predicted over 70%. So at least, to show some solidarity or to at least say we believe in you, they should have even given him the 75%.”

Madma Ansie likened the results to a child who hides the worst exam score from his parents, calling it a woeful embarrassment.

“He had 61% and he was dancing, saying “krukuudu”, and no one was responding. The Second Lady, Semira, was so excited. I will swear I got sad. To be very honest I have never felt that way for Alhaji Bawumia before”, she added.

She believes that 61% was too much of a bad score to dance on when the vice president had the entire party and government machinery behind him.

Madam Margaret Ansie said the situation was worse when contextualized that the President had emphasized that he would do his best to make the Vice President a flagbearer and that he was going to use all his might to make the Vice President a President against the NDC. “You tell us that you have your mind?”, she quizzed.

She also praised the predictions made by info analytics which was very approximate to the actual result of the primaries.

“I believe that was from the info global analytics who were even rubbished. He was very right. He did a very good job but the campaign coordinator of Dr. Bawumia, Sammy Awuku, rubbished the pollster saying they won’t get anything less than 75 to 80%.“

Bawumia Must Have Scammed Nana Addo Too

According to the NEC member, presidential candidates choose running mates to complement them. She furthered that the president therefore chose the vice president on the convincing CV the vice president presented the NPP, and Nana Addo.

Nana Addo

“That is why the running mate is very important. Just after Saturday, I know people will be lobbying him for the role. I have faulted Mr. Akufo Addo and I have gone after him all the time but one thing I will give to him is that throughout Mr Akufo Addo’s campaign, he never mentioned that he was an economic expert.

“Mr. Akufo-Addo never told Ghanaians that he knew economics and where he was going to turn the fortunes around; where the cedi to the dollar was at GHS 3.80/dollar to GHS1.00. Mr. Akufo-Addo never runs economic lectures. He didn’t say he was an economic guru. And Mr. Nana Addo believed him and brought him up. Thus he was given a waiver to become a vice president because he was not qualified to be a vice president. But because of his CV and economic prowess, they gave it to him to change the dollar from the gh3.00 Mahama left to a cedi per dollar.”
