The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, Former President John Dramani Mahama is set to preside over the launch and presentation of Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo’s new book, “The Art of Leading: Unconventional Wisdom from Biblical Leaders”.

The event is scheduled to take place at an esteemed gathering in Abeokuta, Nigeria, with former President John Dramani, the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana expected to play a pivotal role in such celebration of leadership and product of wisdom from the Nigerian distinguished statesman.

The grand affair will not end with the book launch, as former President John Dramani Mahama has also been named the Special Guest of Honour at a Grand Lecture to be held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on March 5.

The lecture is planned as part of the commemoration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s 87th birthday and is expected to draw a distinguished audience of world leaders.

Among the notable attendees are former Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, and HE Danilo Turk, the former President of Slovenia.

The convergence of these influential figures underscores the significance of the occasion and promises insightful discussions on leadership, governance, and the unconventional wisdom drawn from biblical leaders.

Africa Honors President Of The African Development Bank

While in Nigeria, former President John Dramani Mahama will also grace another momentous event as the Special Guest of Honour at an awards presentation ceremony honoring Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank.

Dr. Adesina is to be presented with the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership. The ceremony’s theme, “Transformational Leadership and Good Governance: Lessons from the Awolowo Example,” reflects a focus on drawing lessons from historical leadership for contemporary challenges.

The recognition of Dr. Adesina and the celebration of Olusegun Obasanjo’s birthday are poised to be not only symbolic but also substantive, shedding light on the critical importance of visionary leadership in the African context.

The events are anticipated to provide a platform for dialogue, shared insights, and the exchange of ideas among the esteemed guests, ultimately contributing to the discourse on effective leadership and governance in Africa.

These add to the numerous international and continental conferences and special event that the former President and the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama has attended as a special Guest Speaker or Honor.

In October last year, the Former President and the National Democratic Congress Flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, John Dramani Mahama delivered the 2023 inaugural lecture of the Center for African Studies at Ohio State University.

The bi-annual African Affairs Lecture served as a platform to promote awareness of Africa and its significant yet often overlooked role in fostering global peace and stability.

Former President, John Dramani Mahama’s lecture and subsequent interaction shed light on the commitment of African leaders and citizens to building enduring infrastructure for sustainable democracy and the multitude of challenges facing the continent.

The former president also addressed an international business forum organised by the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce in Calgary and interacted with business leaders on ‘sustaining economic development through entrepreneurship and partnership’ in Toronto later after the lecture.

He subsequently met with the Ghanaian community and students in Halifax, Toronto and Calgary and held sessions with supporters and sympathisers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
