The Chairman of the Volta Regional wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Makafui Woanya, has indicated that the party is poised to increase the party’s electoral fortunes in the Volta Region which has been one of the party’s low vote banks and the stronghold of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stated that the party’s performance in the region has improved massively in the 2020 General Elections and encouraged all NPP patriots in the Volta Region to commit tirelessly to improving the party’s electoral fortunes in the region in the 2024 General Elections.

“As usual Volta will contribute its quota to our national effort to break the eight come December 7th this year. My only concern is the timely delivery and proper channeling of campaign logistics, and we shall deliver our part of the bargain”.

Makafui Woanya

Furthermore, the National Organizer of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, urged the Volta Regional campaign team not to relent in its efforts to contribute to the party’s victory in the 2024 General Election. He indicated that the party is impressed with the region’s contribution to the party’s victory in the 2020 General Elections.

Also, the NPP National Organizer indicated that due to the team’s effort, the NPP for the first time in the history of Ghana’s electoral politics won a parliamentary seat, emphasizing that the Presidential votes also increased immeasurably. “It is our expectation that the energy and unity will increase so that we see more appreciation of votes in the region” he added.

Mr. Henry Boakye further indicated that the team must work hard to increase the party’s electoral fortunes in the region in other to counter the NDC’s increasing progress in the NPP’s electoral strongholds.

The Need For Harmony

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa, also emphasized the need for unity in the Volta caucus of the NPP, stating that the most important issue for the caucus is to secure the Presidency for the incumbent Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the December 7th polls.

“Let us come together in unity to fulfill the agenda of our President. Our President wants to hand over and it is his greatest desire that on 7th January 2025, he will hand over the authority of the state to Dr. Bawumia”.

Dr. Archibald Letsa

The Volta Region, which is the biggest vote bank for the NDC, saw an improvement in the NPP vote during the 2020 General Elections gaining a seat in Parliament for the NPP for the first time and increasing the Presidential vote by an immeasurable margin.

The NPP inaugurated the Volta Regional Campaign Team today, led by the party’s regional chairman, Mr. Makafui Woanya, and assisted by the Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Letsa as part of the party’s preparation towards the NPP’s Presidential Campaign for the 2024 Election.

Like the regional campaign team in the Volta Region, the party also has similar teams in the various regions nationwide. These campaign teams are to ensure that the party’s campaign message reaches the grassroots of every community to increase the party’s chances of winning the election.

The flagbearer of the NPP has also begun a one-on-one meeting with the various stakeholders of the country’s economic sector. These meetings aim to give an insight into the needs of the various stakeholders and suggestions on how these issues will be solved.

Conclusively, the NPP has finally put its campaign into motion long after its major opposition, the NDC has started its campaign. With the viable campaign prowess of the NPP, the NDC will likely have a competitive contender to face.
