He noted that Mr. Mahama’s introduction of a fleet of 495 state-of-the-art buses and its attendant and streamlined electronic ticketing have revolutionized public transit, ensuring efficient and accessible transportation for all citizens.

According to him, the former President’s initiative also helped to strengthen the Metro Mass Transit and intercity State Transport Corporation operations, which went a long way to increase accelerated mobility and improved the movement of goods and services across the country.

Touching on measures adopted by the Mahama’s administration to revamp the Drivers and Vehicle Licensed Authority, Mr Kwetey stated that the former President‘s administration led the implementation of measures to enhance road safety and streamline vehicle registration and inspection processes.

This initiative, he noted involved the automation of the Drivers and Vehicle Licensed Authority services, electronics roadworthy certifications, re-registration of government vehicles, and establishment of vehicle inspection centers.

Mr Kwetey further highlighted that these measures reduced illegal activities, promoted road safety, increased revenue generation, combated fraud, and ensured vehicle roadworthiness contributing to overall road safety and efficiency in transportation

“By digitizing DVLA services, Mahama simplified processes for all, enabling electronic roadworthiness certification, vehicle re-registration, and robust databases, ensuring smoother and more reliable services”.

Furthermore, the former Member of Parliament for Ketu South in the Volta Region posited that former President John Dramani Mahama’s administration embarked on the front–end engineering design for Western and Eastern Railway lines.

These initiatives, he argued modernized railway infrastructure, improved connectivity, alleviated road congestion, and stimulated economic development along some railway corridors in the country.

Mr Kwetey also asserted that Mr Mahama’s initiation of the “Front-End Engineering”, which was designed for Western and Eastern Railway Lines has set the stage for railway modernization, enhancing connectivity and stimulating economic growth across the country.

Aviation Advancements

Moreover, Honorable Fifi Fiavi Kwetey underscored former President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to improving the country’s aviation sector through the construction of some major key projects in the aviation sector.

He noted that some of the projects include major infrastructural development such as the expansion of the Kotoka International Airport Arrival Hall, the upgrading of the Tamale and Kumasi airports into International Airport as well as the establishment of the Ghana Airport Cargo Centre (GACC).

Mr Kwetey, thus opined that the above-mentioned projects that were undertaken by the Mahama administration have enabled rising passenger and cargo volumes, boosted operational efficiency, and solidified Ghana’s status as a regional hub for cargo logistics.
