Renowned Ghanaian Musician Calls Himself ‘Jesus’

King Paluta

Renowned Ghanaian musician, King Paluta has recounted how he was raised solely by his mom for the first nineteen years of his life due to his father’s absence.

King Paluta jokingly referred to himself as ‘Jesus’, noting the resemblance between his family situation and the Biblical figures, with his mother named Mary and his father named Joseph, adding that he was born out of wedlock.

“I didn’t see my father often. I think I was raised by a single mother. Before I was born, my parents weren’t married. When I came into the world, my dad was away. He was in Ghana but we had no idea about his whereabouts. It was until I was 19 or 20 years old that I met him. He came to my mother, and she discussed marriage to him. My father was the only man my mother had.”

He explained that all this time, his mother had made a conscious decision not to be with any other man. However, he was unsure of her exact reasons, except for assuming that his mother’s interest in men withered after the separation, stating that his mother’s focus was shifted to them.

King Paluta Subtly Responds To Question Of Cannabis Consumption

In response to questions about his cannabis consumption, King Paluta didn’t give a direct yes or no answer; instead, he adopted a more subtle “read between the lines” strategy.

He hinted that it wouldn’t be surprising if he did smoke, suggesting that denying it would likely lead to criticism for being dishonest.

According to him, his demeanor and lifestyle make it apparent to many that he engages in smoking.

The secular musician and music producer suggested that such inquiries should be directed towards gospel musicians, as societal expectations regarding smoking differ for them.

“If people like us sit before you and talk about ‘weed’, it’s no news. You should rather engage the gospel musicians – Nacee, Bro Sammy, and the likes on this subject. If I tell you I smoke, it’s no news, it’s not shocking. But if I say I don’t smoke, even your viewers will insult me for lying. So, I don’t even have to say ‘no’ or ‘yes’.”

Reflecting on his journey to success, King Paluta revealed his lifelong aspiration to pursue music as he continually worked hard to achieve his dreams.

In 2004, he penned his inaugural song, showcasing his dedication to music by investing his school fees in studio sessions.

He admitted that he slept at the studio at the beginning of his career till he was allowed to make music.

“Sleeping at the studio helped me to be able to make beats, and to record music. Because I know that this studio helped me to sleep there at that moment and you know anything could pop up and I’ll be asked to leave so I ensured I learned what happens in the studio. You know I need to make money of my own,” he stated.

King Paluta declared that he was an underground artist for close to fifteen years, adding that he did not drop official songs at the beginning of his music career until 2015.

He disclosed that singing pushed him to the mainstream because he loves singing, adding that his sister helped him with singing.

Today, he has emerged as a celebrated musician, with his tracks amassing significant views. His notable works include ‘Aha Akye,’ featuring Samini, ‘Sika Aba Fie,’ ‘YaHitte,’ and ‘Aseda.’
