The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Honorable Samuel Abu Jinapor has unveiled an ultra-modern office complex earmarked to be the focal point of activities for the Greater Accra Lands Commission.
The Member of Parliament for Damango Constituency, speaking during the commissioning of the project lauded the management and staff of the Greater Accra Lands Commission for their unwavering dedication in seeing through the completion of the project’s first and second phases.
The Land and Natural Resources Minister further underscored the pivotal role land plays in driving various sectors of the country’s economy.
Stressing the importance of land to the socio-economic development of the country, Honorable Abu Jinapor cited recent statistics from the Ghana Statistical Service, which estimates that approximately ninety per cent of the population derives their livelihoods directly or indirectly from land.
“The importance of land to our socio-economic development cannot be overemphasized. All human activities revolve around land.
“Land is the fulcrum to the success of all sectors of the economy such as Agriculture, Mining, Security, Manufacturing, Finance, Trade, Education, Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy, and Health among others. Hardly, anything gets done without land”.

Furthermore, Honorable Jinapor elucidated on the intrinsic cultural value of land within the Ghanaian context, highlighting its integral role in traditional political systems and the national economy.
He stressed the imperative of an effective land administration system free from fraudulent activities and inefficiencies, asserting that such a system is paramount to achieving the country’s development goals.
Addressing the unique status of the Greater Accra Region as the busiest hub of land administration in the country, the Land and Natural Resources Minister also underscored the necessity for the Commission to ensure the effective delivery of land administration services.
With the unveiling of the state-of-the-art facility, Honorable Jinapor expressed confidence in the Commission’s ability to uphold its vision of becoming a beacon of excellence in land services delivery.
Modernization of Land Administration
Moreover, the Land and Natural Resources Minister, Honorable Samuel Abu Jinapor outlined key governmental reforms and interventions aimed at modernizing land administration, with a focus on decentralization and digitalization.
He announced the establishment of digitized offices for the six new regions and the implementation of Satellite Client Service Access Units (CSAU) across all regional offices by the ruling government to enhance accessibility and efficiency in land-related transactions.
“As our nation evolves and our land-related challenges become more complex, it is imperative that we adapt and enhance the capabilities of the Lands Commission to meet the demands of the modern era.
“That is why under the able and outstanding leadership of President Akufo-Addo, we have been championing reforms in land administration with the view of transforming the Lands Commission into a modern, efficient, and customer-centric institution capable of meeting the diverse needs of our society”

In alignment with these reforms, Mr. Benjamin Arthur, the Executive Secretary of the Lands Commission, affirmed the completion of the project as a testament to the Commission’s commitment to providing a conducive work environment for its staff.
He assured that the management would continue to strive for excellence and improve performance with the allocation of additional resources.
On the other hand, Lawyer Alex Quaynor, National Chairman of the Lands Commission, revealed plans for the imminent operationalization of a new office complex in Tema, aimed at servicing clients in the eastern part of the Greater Accra Region.
He emphasized that such initiatives are vital in curbing disruptions to service delivery caused by unauthorized individuals, particularly ‘goro boys.’
The inauguration of the facility, which boasts spacious offices, a conference room, and an auditorium, marks a significant milestone for land administration in the Greater Accra Region.
Notably, the construction of the architectural marvel according to the Commission was financed entirely through internally generated funds (IGF) sourced from the regional office of the Greater Accra Lands Commission.
