2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS Gets Battery Boost

Mercedes Benz EQS

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled many updates for its much-anticipated 2025 EQS sedan, setting the stage for an electrifying driving experience.

Among the notable updates is a revamped front-end design, lending a fresh aesthetic appeal to the model. However, the real highlight lies beneath the surface with the introduction of an innovative battery pack, promising extended run-time and enhanced performance.

This strategic upgrade would elevate the EQS’s range by over 10 percent, addressing one of the key concerns among electric vehicle enthusiasts.

Incorporating redesigned regenerative braking software highlights Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to innovation, aimed at maximizing efficiency and driving dynamics.

Still, the EQS sedan has found success as a large luxury sedan competing with the Tesla Model S around the globe. It has been noted for its ultra-large MBUX hyperscreen across its dash and as one of the only EVs to offer Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities in specific markets.

While eager enthusiasts await pricing details, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the imminent arrival of the refreshed EQS model at dealerships later this year.

With anticipation building, consumers can look forward to experiencing the perfect fusion of cutting-edge technology and luxurious craftsmanship embodied by the 2025 EQS sedan.

Mercedes-Benz’s EQS electric luxury sedan is preparing to enter its fourth model year with a new battery pack to improve on its already competitive range. While the EQS featured a 108.4-kWh battery pack for the first three years of its life, the 2025 model sees that figure increase to 118.0 kWh.

Using the more lenient European WLTP range figures, Mercedes estimates an impressive 11 percent increase in driving range.

While this calculation is based on European standards, it suggests that the EQS sedan’s range will be approximately 390 miles in the US market.

The previous EQS put through a real-world 75-mph highway fuel-economy test managed an impressive 350 miles.

Updated Design and Standard Features

According to Mercedes, the increase in battery size coupled with freshly updated regenerative braking software further improves the electric sedan’s range.

In a move that signals a return to heritage design cues, Mercedes-Benz unveiled a redesigned front end for the 2025 EQS alongside an increased driving range. The new look adopts a more classic grille design with chrome slats on a black background, replacing the outgoing model’s signature grille with stars.

Further emphasizing the shift towards tradition, the flat Mercedes-Benz emblem on the hood has been swapped for the brand’s more historical standing-star hood ornament.

The focus on luxury extends to the interior, where Mercedes has prioritized the comfort of rear passengers. The climate control vents on the B-pillar now sport chrome accents, while the rear seat cushions boast contrast stitching and elegant Nappa leather piping.

These changes underscore Mercedes’ commitment to providing a luxurious travel experience for those riding in the back.

For those seeking the ultimate in rear-seat comfort, Mercedes offers the Pinnacle trim with the Executive Interior package. This indulgent option boasts a rear seat that reclines to a luxurious 38 degrees.

Furthermore, it grants rear passengers the ability to fold the front passenger seat forward, creating an unparalleled sense of legroom. While official specifications and pricing details remain under wraps, Mercedes has confirmed that the subtly refreshed 2025 EQS will hit dealerships by the end of the year.

Mercedes stated that other electric models aside from the EQS sedan on the EVA 2 platform will share many of these updates as 2025 model-year EVs roll out. That includes the EQS SUV, EQE sedan, and EQE SUV. So watch out for those EVs later this year.
