Dr.-Bawumia, former Vice President and NPP flagbearer 2024 elections

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is set to commence his political campaign on Monday, April 29, ahead of the December general elections.

A press statement signed by the Director of Communications for the Bawumia for President 2024 Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, indicated that the flagbearer will begin with the Eastern Region and will tour all sixteen regions over the next month.

According to the statement, Dr. Bawumia will meet a wide range of stakeholders, including traditional leaders, the clergy, the youth, traders, drivers, farmers, and students, and visit businesses, including marketplaces to interact with traders and consumers during the tour.

Ghanaians have been urged, through the statement, to give Dr. Bawumia the needed reception during the tour, as he has shown that he has more integrity, discipline, focus, ideas, and solutions than his main opponent [John Mahama] showed as Vice President and President.

“It is without doubt that, Dr. Bawumia has proven to be Solutions-oriented and remains committed to finding more solutions to Ghana’s challenges if given the nod as President in the December 2024 elections”.

The statement also indicated that Dr. Bawumia will engage the media, hold town hall meetings, and continue his regular stakeholder engagements with the general public.

It further noted that long before his election on November 4, 2023, and since then, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been very active in undertaking broad consultations and interactions with various groups across the country.

It also stated that apart from fulfilling his busy schedule as Ghana’s most active Vice President, Dr. Bawumia and the NPP have utilized these recent months to put the structures and logistics in place to embark on an impactful presidential and parliamentary campaign.

Moreover, the statement stated that Dr. Bawumia is sustained by the strong backing from the NPP’s grassroots and the growing enthusiasm and confidence resonating throughout the entire party.

This burgeoning energy, the press release noted, signifies the NPP’s preparedness for the activities that lie ahead in the upcoming contest. “For us in the NPP, the 2024 race is all down to three key things, the Battle of Ideas and Character; the Battle of Records, and the Battle of Effective Campaigning”, it added.

The NPP And NDC Politics

Meanwhile, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Team, Eric Twum, said the NPP has done enough for Ghanaians to retain the party in the upcoming December polls.

He stated that the NPP’s fierce opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has done little to nothing to convince Ghanaians that it is a better alternative to steer the country toward socio-political development.

He indicated that the NPP is currently focused on telling Ghanaians the positive initiatives and actions the government has undertaken in the quest to make life better for all citizens.

“We are focused and we have many positive things that we can give out to the people of this country to talk to them about and help them make the bold decision to side with us instead of a flagbearer [John Mahama] who has been rejected by the people before and will be rejected again”.

Eric Twum

He noted that Ghana, has been able to galvanize its base and it has a future as a country that does not lie with the NDC.

He added that the NDC and its flagbearer have not proposed any tangible and workable policy on how to cater to the needs of Ghanaians in the last year and therefore have nothing new to offer the country.

He emphasized that the NDC and its flagbearer, John Mahama accomplished nothing for the country and will therefore not be remembered for anything.

He argued that the NDC has not proposed anything apart from promising to review and abolish some initiatives of the ruling NPP government.
