NSA Launches New Digital Platform, Registration Opens Tomorrow

The National Service Authority (NSA) has launched a new digital platform designed to enhance transparency, security, and efficiency in the national service registration and deployment process.

The announcement was made by the Director-General of the Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, ahead of the opening of registration for the 2025–2026 service year, which officially begins on Wednesday, 8th October 2025.

The launch of this new platform follows a directive by President John Dramani Mahama, through the Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare-Addo, to suspend the old system and conduct a comprehensive technical and forensic audit.

According to Madam Seddoh, the audit revealed that the previous Central Service Management Platform (CSMP) was “highly unsatisfactory” and fraught with inefficiencies that undermined the integrity of the service’s operations.

“In response to the President’s directive, the Minister instructed the NSA Board to discontinue the use of the old system, whose contract had already expired in August 2025, A transition and implementation steering committee was inaugurated on 10th September 2025 to oversee the migration, redesign, and deployment of a modern digital platform that ensures transparency and real-time verification of service personnel.”

The 11-member committee, chaired by Dr. Wisdom Atiwoto, Director of Research, Statistics, and Information Management at the Ministry of Health, has now completed its work. Based on its recommendations, the Authority has fully operationalized the new system, which will be used for all aspects of service administration — including registration, postings, payroll management, and allowances.

Madam Seddoh announced that the registration exercise will run for one week, from Wednesday, 8th October to Wednesday, 15th October 2025, after which successful applicants will begin their national service on Monday, 3rd November 2025.

Addressing earlier registration challenges, she explained that the Authority had to nullify the June 2025 registration due to the discovery of “questionable data” and multiple irregularities.

“We recorded a little over 12,000 registrants during the June exercise. However, after a thorough audit, we found over 2,000 entries with inaccurate information — some with impossible details, including birth dates as recent as 2021”.

Madam Seddoh assured affected registrants that all payments made during the June registration will be refunded. “Every legitimate registrant who paid during that period will receive a full refund,” she stated. The new digital system, she emphasized, introduces a more robust, secure, and user-friendly experience for both personnel and institutions.

“Service personnel will still go through familiar steps like PIN retrieval, Ghana Card verification, and posting. However, these will now occur on one seamless platform with a personalized dashboard showing posting details, institution information, and an embedded QR-coded certificate for instant verification”.

Institutions, too, stand to benefit from the new workflow. They can now request, manage, and validate personnel entirely online, aided by an intelligent posting algorithm that automatically matches personnel to institutions based on qualifications, proximity, and institutional needs. This, according to Madam Seddoh, “will ensure fairness, accuracy, and efficiency in deployment.”

A major innovation in the new platform is its integration with the national identification database, which enables real-time identity and age verification. This feature, she said, “effectively eliminates ghost names, duplicate records, and unqualified entries.”

“Payrolls are now automatically generated from verified data, ensuring that only eligible and validated personnel are paid. Every step is checked, cross-checked, and confirmed before any allowance is processed”.

The system also includes geofencing capabilities to ensure personnel can only mark attendance when physically present at their assigned posts, preventing proxy sign-ins or falsified attendance reports.

Madam Seddoh also highlighted the NSS Connect mobile app, which will provide personnel with real-time updates, announcements, and access to their records. “Every action on the platform is logged, creating a complete audit trail to enhance accountability and transparency,” she said.

In addition to operational improvements, the new platform integrates an AI-powered career support system called “Schemes Buddy.” This feature offers real-time scholarship matching, entrepreneurial mentorship, and job search assistance for service personnel even after their service year.

“The system connects users to global scholarships, leadership fellowships, and business development opportunities. It also matches job openings to their skills and interests, both locally and internationally”.

To prevent fraud, Madam Seddoh cautioned prospective personnel against fake websites purporting to be official NSA registration portals. “We have identified about seven fake sites online. Please be vigilant and ensure that you only register through our verified website, www.gnsa.gov.gh. If in doubt, refer to our official social media handles or contact our support lines,” she advised.

The Director-General praised the NSA Board and the Transition and Implementation Steering Committee for their dedication to ensuring a smooth rollout. She concluded with a call for collective responsibility, stressing that the transformation of the national service system represents a renewed social contract between the state and the youth.

“With radical transparency, we are resetting national service and resetting Ghana,” Madam Seddoh said passionately. “National service will no longer be just a year of obligation, but a year of opportunity and growth. The era of action begins now — a new chapter begins today.”
