The National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has stated that the NDC will ensure every corrupt appointee under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, faces the full rigors of the law if the NDC regains power after the December 7th poll.

Accordingly, the NDC Chairman emphasized that it is imperative for appointees of the Akufo Addo-Bawumia government to adopt a mindset of transparency and accountability, particularly in light of allegations of corruption and looting leveled against some of them.

He stressed that such a mindset is essential for demonstrating a commitment to responsible stewardship and upholding the public trust, and for ensuring that those who have engaged in wrongdoing are held accountable for their actions.

“To save Ghana, we should not allow anybody to engage in wrongdoing in looting the country and getting away with it. And so if that’s what they’re scared of, they better prepare. They still have time to vomit all the loot or hold onto it and face the consequences,”

While addressing NDC faithfuls at a recent strategic meeting in the United States of America, he charged members of the opposition party to embrace hard work.

Making a quip at the NPP, Johnson Asiedu urged NDC faithfuls not to be discouraged by recent poll results, since the NDC is “dealing with a wounded tiger“.

He, however, indicated that the impending election is not going to be an easy one despite the poll suggesting landslide victory for both the NDC Presidential Candidate and Parliamentary candidates.

As such he advised the party supporters not to be complacent until the party is declared victorious by the Electoral Commission as the party is contending a “wounded tiger”.

Furthermore, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah noted that a Mahama-led NDC government is needed to restore sanity to governance as the incumbent NPP government has failed to be accountable to Ghanaians since it assumed office in January 2017.

He emphasized that a Mahama-led government is needed to ensure that the fight against corruption is revitalized, assuring Ghanaians that the next NDC government “is going to come hard at corrupt officials”.

NPP Accused Of Poor Leadership

Moreover, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah likened the President, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo, and his government to a person who’s riding a tiger, emphasizing that Ghanaians are hopeless as long as they remain under the leadership of the NPP as “if you get down you will be devoured, and if you stay at the back of the tiger, you die of hunger”.

He additionally remarked that the NPP is unconcerned about relinquishing power, having accomplished its primary objectives. However, he cautioned that the party must be conscious of its post-power fate, indicating that the consequences of its actions while in office will inevitably shape its future prospects

“There was the story of an old man who had so much money in his safe, and when he was sick, he kept the key to the safe in his pocket and put his hand on it; that he would never release the key. But he died, and they took the key and opened all his treasures. So, those who can communicate to the NPP people, let them know that it is our duty to save this country”.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah

As such, he stated that one way of saving the country is to take over power and hold every public official under the NPP government accountable for their leadership, asserting that the NDC is resolute in its determination to oust the current government and rescue the nation from its grip.

He declared that the party is prepared to take all necessary steps to restore the country to a path of prosperity, progress, and development.
