Multiple award-winning artist, Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etse Satekla has advised his colleagues that they should not let the quest to win awards bring division amongst them.

Talking about his Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nominations, the ‘Ekelebe’ hitmaker said artistes who were recognized deserve applause for their hard work.

“We shouldn’t allow awards to bring confusion or to separate us for us to take our minds off the good works that we ought to do to push Ghana music ahead. On the night of the TGMA whichever awards we win will be used to bring honour to Ghana and motivate others that you could also do it.

“And this will propel us to higher heights because we’ve all worked very hard and the charterhouse sat down to decide that this is what we deserve to be rewarded for. Once again I want to use this opportunity to respect and big up all my fellow Ghanaian artists whose hard work has been recognized in order to move forward with our brand of music.”

Stonebwoy disclosed that being challenged to fill the 22,000 capacity at the O2 Arena in London does not scare him at all.

“As for the O2 Arena it’s a venue that I’ve stepped there before and it’s not scary to fill but it’s just a matter of announcing and doing your promotion for people to come out in their numbers that’s all and it’ll happen.”

Stonebwoy

He revealed that with the right promotional strategies, it’s possible to fill the O2 Arena because he’s mounted stages and performed at bigger venues abroad.

“Just last two weeks my brother Davido invited me to perform at his show that’s like 20k capacity at the Madison Square Garden and I also performed at a reggae festival in Austin which is another 20k capacity. So when it comes to capacity we’ve performed a lot at such venues and I’ve even performed at the World Cup in Qatar which has a 40k capacity including Summer Jam which is in the thousands of thousands.

“Even Ashaiman to the world has a big capacity so when it comes to capacity I’m not new to international platforms and I’ve been on some of the highest stages to ever be climbed. Even the O2 Arena has over 20k capacity if you remember two years ago Davido invited me on stage and it was beautiful to see people sing back my songs so filling the O2 Arena isn’t impossible at all.”

Emerging Artists Urged To Endure Growth Process

Stonebwoy touted himself as the Roger Miller of Ghana music because he’s been through the mill.

Advising emerging artists, he stated that without the proper foundation, upcoming artists who get viral hit songs might think they’ve arrived.

“Learn from those who have come and gone, the good, the bad, the ugly, and try to find out what they did, how they did it, and how you can also build upon it and add your uniqueness to become great. People might have come and done it so we have to respect legends and reflect on it and also grow upon it so let them keep learning and be inspired by what the pacesetters have done.”

Stonebwoy

He revealed that social media now makes things easier for those who want to succeed the next day.

“I think I understand them in a way because today you can do just one video and it’ll go viral and just the next day everybody will be mentioning your name which might make it look like you’ve arrived.

“But that’s where the danger is because with that you don’t have a foundation just like you said that I’ve been through the mill, me I’m Roger Miller and I’ve been through the mill so I’m like Roger Miller sitting here right now.”
