Nurein Shiabu Migyimah, Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate, Assin Central Constituency

In a significant development, the Central Regional Functional Executive Committee (R-FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the immediate withdrawal of Nurein Shiabu Migyimah as the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Assin Central Constituency.

This decision according to the party follows serious allegations of immoral acts and anti-party conduct leveled against Nurein Shiabu Migyimah.

The decision was contained in an official communication from the Central Regional Secretariat issued by Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the Regional Secretary of the opposition party, addressed to the Assin Central Constituency Chairman and copied to the Constituency Secretary.

“Following the interrogation and deliberations on the reports of immoral acts and anti-Party conduct received by R-FEC against the Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Nurein Shiabu Migyimah, at the R-FEC meeting held on Tuesday 25th June 2024, the Regional Functional Executive Committee after conducting its preliminary investigation and examining the matter minutely and exhaustively further consulted key stakeholders in the region and the leadership of the Party at the National level resolved that, Nurein Shaibu Migyimah be withdrawn as the 2024 Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC with immediate effect”.

Furthermore, Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the Central Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress indicated that Nurein Shiabu Migyimah has not only been withdrawn as the parliamentary candidate but has also been suspended from the party for six months.

He emphasized that Mr Nurein Shiabu Migyimah’s party membership is on hold pending the final determination of his case by the Regional Disciplinary Committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress.

Additionally, Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the Central Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress noted that the move is a stringent measure by the party to uphold its ethical standards and discipline within its ranks.

He argued that the Regional Functional Executive Committee of the opposition party’s decision underscores the party’s zero-tolerance stance on behaviour that undermines its values and integrity, underscoring the importance of all members adhering to the party’s code of conduct.

Moreover, Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the Central Regional Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress noted that the Regional Functional Executive Committee of the opposition party has directed the Assin Central Constituency leadership to communicate the decision formally to Mr Migyimah.

He also indicated that the communication to the leadership of the opposition party at Assin Central extended to all constituency, ward, and branch members of the party.

The directive according to him emphasizes the urgency and necessity of strict compliance with the decision to maintain order and unity within the party.

Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the Regional Secretary, in his statement further expressed the need for immediate action and cooperation from the Assin Central Constituency leadership.

He urged the constituency leaders to treat the matter with the utmost urgency and ensure that the directive is executed without fail.

The withdrawal of Nurein Shiabu Migyimah as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Assin Central Constituency marks a pivotal moment for the party.

It means that the opposition National Democratic Congress must outline new mechanism and procedures to select a new parliamentary candidate to represent the party in the Assin Central Constituency in the upcoming December 07 2024 general elections.
