Nigerian international superstar, Wizkid has recorded several notable moments for Nigerian and African music with his hit singles and albums.

Ahead of the release of his upcoming sixth album ‘Morayo’ has called the album his best yet.

The Grammy winner said this in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on July 4. 2024.

“MORAYO!! Best album I ever made!! Now listen! It’s only up from here!” the post reads.

Wizkid’s upcoming album ‘Morayo’ is named after his late mother who passed away on August 18, 2023, in London. His latest post on his next album came after he paid an emotional tribute to his mother’s first posthumous birthday.

The artist took to X to express his emotions and commemorate the occasion.

“Happy birthday, love of my life! I miss you every day. The first one without you here feels unreal. Nothing makes sense without you, mama! Life is empty without you. Continue to watch over us!

“My heart is broken forever! Love you, love love you, MORAYO mi. Your smile is a memory I will never forget. Your laugh! Your hugs and kisses. I miss you dearly!”

His mother is seen as highly pivotal to Wizkid’s success as a global superstar. She was even often seen supporting her son’s music career by attending his concerts on occasion. The singer himself described her as a massive support in his song ‘Joy’.

Fans pen tribute to Wizkid’s mum.

“You’ll forever be in our hearts, thanks for giving us African Legend She lives on…”

In a recent post on X, the award-winning sensation revealed that his album will feature Nigerian artists. The revelation comes after Wizkid was recently spotted in the studio with different Nigerian artists including Shallipopi, Odumodublvck, and Omah Lay.

‘Morayo’ comes off the back of Wizkid’s 2023 EP ‘S2’ which had the songs ‘IDK’ featuring Zlatan and ‘Diamond’ featuring Wande Coal.

‘Morayo’ will be Wizkid’s sixth LP coming after his 2022 album ‘More Love, Less Ego’ which had the lead singles ‘Money & Love’ and ‘Bad To Me’.

Anticipation is high for Wizkid’s next album, especially after he infamously posted on his Instagram story that he doesn’t want to be associated with Afrobeats and all those who love his first album ‘Superstar’ and Afrobeats shouldn’t bother listening to his next album.

He has yet to disclose the release date of the much-anticipated album.

Kimmy K Slams Wizkid Over Recent Posts on Social Media

A Nigerian woman identified as Kimmy K shared her thoughts on Wizkid’s recent behavior, expressing disappointment

Kimmy K referred to Wizkid as Childish, Immature and a clout chaser.

“I am a fan of Wizkid, and I am a fan of his talent and his music. Regardless of how you feel about Wizkid, you can never deny his talent.

“I think the way he has been acting lately has been very immature and childish, and I think that as a collective, we need to start admitting to ourselves that Wizkid is just as petty and childish as his other colleagues.”

Kimmy K

She mentioned feeling uncomfortable with the tweets that seemed to be aimed at Davido and his team, dragging unrelated individuals like Chioma into the mix.

“He’s not the mature one because there’s a narrative out there that Wizkid is the more mature one. But the kind of tweets that he has put out recently really rubbed me the wrong way.

“There were subs directed at Davido and his camp, and these subs ended up dragging people who are not involved in the matter, like Chioma, and it really rubbed me the wrong way. It felt to me like Wizkid has been clout chasing lately.”
