Prof. Kobby Mensah, a Political Marketing Strategist, has indicated that being a running mate or a flagbearer is a very solemn and high-stakes position, where no matter how skilled one is at propaganda, one would still want to be grounded in reality.
He pointed out that NAPO’s audacious and propagandistic claim about Nkrumah will likely undermine his credibility as a running mate to the NPP flagbearer, making it difficult for Ghanaians to take him seriously.
“The only people who will take you seriously are the very activists that perhaps you want to actually rally around. No rational human being in this country would think that you are telling the truth. Nobody, in their right frame of mind… unless of course, they don’t understand the political history of this country. Even the very place that you are actually speaking is part of Nkrumah’s deliverables”.
Prof. Kobby Mensah
Prof. Mensah added that it is common knowledge among Ghanaians of all ages, including the youth that many of the nation’s vital amenities and infrastructure owe their existence to Nkrumah’s visionary leadership and lasting impact.
He noted that NAPO’s comparison of Nkrumah to Akufo-Addo, a president who many Ghanaians believe has not delivered, is a stretch, and his claim that Akufo-Addo surpasses a global icon like Nkrumah is laughable, making it impossible for anyone to take him seriously.
The Political Strategist noted that NAPO’s utterances highlight the arrogant personality that people have been complaining about.
“You have a challenging personality and when you get the opportunity to prove people wrong… you just came to do otherwise in a few moments”. – Prof. Kobby Mensah
Prof. Mensah noted that NAPO’s statement is unfortunate and advised him to apologize, lest he goes down in history as someone who misspoke due to being overwhelmed by emotions.
Prof. Kobby Mensah emphasized that emotional intelligence is a vital quality for a leader to possess, and encouraged NAPO to demonstrate it.
Nkrumah & Successive Govts Contributed To Ghana’s Development- Aliu Mahama
Farouk Aliu Mahama, Member of Parliament for Yendi, also stated that while President Akufo-Addo has done well for the country, Nkrumah and successive governments in Ghana have also made significant contributions to the country’s development.

He observed that it’s only natural for subsequent governments to improve upon and surpass Nkrumah’s achievements, given the foundation he laid for them to build upon.
“The wish of every father is to see his son achieve greater than him. [We must] advise our brother [NAPO] that he should be able to humble himself to everybody. I don’t think NAPO is arrogant. I just see him to be very assertive. He is a free-minded person”.
Farouk Aliu Mahama
He asserted that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is the most suitable and prepared candidate to assume the role of NPP running mate in the 2024 elections, possessing the requisite skills and readiness to take on the leadership mantle.
Meanwhile, the NDC observed that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka NAPO, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party, has missed a crucial chance to dispel the widespread perception of his arrogance and prove Ghanaians wrong.
The NDC also observed that NAPO missed a crucial chance to promote unity and foster reconciliation within the NPP, further highlighting his inability to lead the party towards healing and cohesion.
The Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Mustapha Gbande, observed that the NPP leadership appears to be disconnected from the reality of the average Ghanaian, operating in a bubble that is detached from the concerns and needs of the citizens.
He noted that, contrary to the NPP’s belief, ordinary Ghanaians think that there is a high level of corruption in this government and that it is wasteful, emphasizing the need for the government to come to terms with reality.
