Simi Shares Her Thoughts on How To Make Relationships Succeed

Nigerian singer Simi has shared her thoughts on relationships and emphasized that both people need to invest in their relationship for it to succeed.

Simi highlighted the importance of compromise in relationships and stressed that it takes the efforts of both parties.

“I have a take; one person cannot make a relationship work. I don’t care how many prayers you pray, how hard you work, or how much therapy you do. If one person is the only one investing in the relationship, the relationship is not working; it can never work.

“It will never work because it takes two; that’s the point of a relationship. It takes two, three, or four. I don’t know what we’re doing these days. But the point is, it definitely takes more than one person; it takes a village.”

Going further, the singer stressed that love requires mutual effort and understanding to work.

“Love requires vulnerability, compromise, and sacrifice, but it has to be in an ‘I know that I have to put part of myself down in this relationship, but I don’t want to be doing it myself’ type of way,”she explained.

The mother of one also emphasized the importance of good communication, which she said is essential for staying connected and working through differences.

“I think there should be great communication; if you don’t have great communication, it won’t work, even if you love that person. Communication is hearing someone and hearing what they’re saying. And even if you disagree, you’re meeting it with love and compassion.”

According to her, couples are not always going to be on the same page, adding that there will always be something to disagree on.

“And sometimes you can’t stand that person, but you love them enough to find your way back to the same page,” she added.

Singer Reveals Why She Stopped Being Savage on Twitter

Simi opened up about her shift away from her previous knack for witty, savage comebacks on Twitter, attributing it to changes in the platform’s culture over time.

The singer spoke about her music and the music industry as a whole.

When asked about why she stopped being savage, Simi clarified that her intention was never to be intentionally savage but rather to respond authentically.

“I feel like I still am sometimes; maybe it’s because I’m not on Twitter as much as I used to be. I don’t see it as being ‘savage’ because my goal is not to be savage.

“Sometimes people see your response and are always like, ‘You’re always clapping back,’ but compared to how much stuff you see online, I hardly ever reply honestly.”

In between laughter, Simi revealed that she is just as witty in real life as she is online.

“That’s how I am in real life, though; I’d say I’m very quick with it. If someone says sorry, I would say sorry for yourself; I’m a joker as well,”she said.

The “Joromi” crooner stated that Twitter isn’t the way it used to be, adding that it used to be better.

“I don’t think it’s because people are now awake, though. I feel like Twitter has become a competition for who can be the most toxic or the loudest person and I don’t have fun with it like I used to. Now I hardly go on it unless I want to sell something.”

Simi

However, speaking about her response to the bikini backlash, she noted that it was spontaneous and wasn’t planned.

“I am the kind of person if I have an idea at 2 am, I want to post it a 2 am. What I am is what you see and what you get, and that’s how everybody is in life.”
