Harris Commends Biden’s Legacy

U.S Vice President, Kamala Harris speaks from the South Lawn of the White House on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Speaking at her first public appearance since U.S President Joe Biden exited the 2024 presidential race, Vice President Kamala Harris commended the president’s legacy.

Speaking an event for NCAA championship athletes at the White House, Harris said, “Joe Biden’s legacy of accomplishment over the past three years is unmatched in modern history.”

She asserted that in one term, Biden has already surpassed the legacy of most Presidents who have served two terms.

“I first came to know President Biden through his son Beau, we worked together as Attorneys-General in our states,” Harris said.

“Back then, Beau would often tell me stories about his dad. He would tell me about the kind of father, and the kind of man that Joe is,” She added.

“The qualities that Beau revered in his father are the same qualities that I have seen every day in our President. His honesty, his integrity, his commitment to his faith and his family, his big heart and his love, deep love of our country – and I am firsthand witness that every day our President Joe Biden fights for the American people and we are deeply, deeply grateful of his service to our nation.”

She mentioned that Biden wanted to be present at the event, saying, “He is feeling much better and recovering fast, and he looks forward to getting back on the road.”

Harris then pivoted back to the purpose of the event, which was to honor champion student athletes.

Harris noted, “To all of our athletes, I know it was not easy to make it to this moment. Each of you has faced challenges and obstacles, and you have endured.”

“You have fought back and fought through. By doing so, you demonstrated that true greatness requires more than skill, it requires grit and determination,” she stated.

“You all know what it means to commit and to persevere, and you know what it means to count on teammates. During the course of a long season, sports teams become a family.

“You rely on each other, you develop relationships that will last a lifetime, and you make the people around you better in every way. And when you play you, inspire people across our nation, you remind all of us what can be achieved with hard work and ambition, and of course, none of you made it here alone.”

Harris To Campaign In Delaware

The White House announced that Kamala Harris will head to Wilmington, Delaware, later for a campaign event.

Wilmington is the headquarters of the Biden-Harris campaign.

“It’s the first full day of our campaign, so I’m heading up to Wilmington, DE later to say “hello” to our staff in HQ,” Harris said in a post on X.

“One day down. 105 to go. Together, we’re going to win this,” she added.

Meanwhile, House Democrats see Harris giving boost to struggling campaign against Trump

They expressed new optimism that a potential nomination of Kamala Harris could turn around a campaign that has been going Donald Trump’s way.

Some more moderate members dismissed GOP attacks that she would be a left-wing presence atop the ticket.

Rep. Jared Moskowitz said, “Everyone’s trying to frame her ‘Oh, she’s too the left or she’s too center’ depending upon, you know, what side of the aisle you’re on.”

Moskowitz added, “Let’s let the Vice President Harris come out and talk about her vision for the country before everyone starts to try to put her in a box.”

Asked whether there should be some coordination amongst Democrats to minimize possible challenges to Harris, Moskowitz replied, “There’s going to be a process, but part of the process is getting endorsements, getting the delegates, right.”

“She’s working on that. First of all, in order to have a process you have to have a challenger, and so far, no one has stepped up to challenge her,” he said.
