“Completed Presidential Nomination Forms for each candidate for President shall be signed by the Candidate [and] not less than two persons who are registered voters of each District Assembly. The completed Nomination Forms shall designate the person to serve as Vice President”.

“The Nomination Forms shall be in quadruplicate and shall be delivered personally by the Presidential Candidate or any two of the registered voters who signed the Nomination Forms for the Candidate. In addition to the completed Nomination Forms, the Candidate shall submit four (4) copies of a recent post-card (bust-sized) photograph against a red background showing the full face and ears of the Candidate to the Returning Officer”.

Electoral Commission (EC)

The EC directed that fully completed Presidential Nomination Forms must be submitted at the Commission’s Head Office during the designated hours of 9:00 am-12:00 pm and 2:00 pm-5:00 pm daily.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that presidential aspirants are required to pay a non-refundable fee of GH₵ 100,000.00 when submitting their nomination forms.

The Commission specified that the payment of GH₵ 100,000.00 must be made by banker’s draft, payable to the Chairperson, Electoral Commission, to facilitate a smooth nomination process.

The Commission implemented a concessionary fee, requiring female candidates and persons with disabilities to pay a reduced amount of GH₵ 75,000, a 25% discount from the standard fee, to nominate for the presidency.

Parliamentary Nominations

Furthermore, the Electoral Commission (EC) stipulated that individuals seeking parliamentary seats must also use the Commission’s official Nomination Forms to formalize their candidacy.

The Commission instructed that candidates for parliamentary seats must submit their completed Nomination Forms in quadruplicate, either in person or through their proposer or seconder, to the Returning Officer of the constituency they wish to represent.

According to the Commission, individuals running for Member of Parliament must pay a fee of GH₵ 10,000.00 to the Constituency’s Returning Officer when submitting their Nomination Forms, as a requirement for their candidacy.

The Commission announced a discounted nomination fee for female candidates and persons with disabilities running for parliament, requiring them to pay GH₵ 7,500, a 25% reduction from the standard fee of GH₵ 10,000.

The Electoral Commission directed that all inquiries concerning the Presidential Election to the office of the Chairperson, who can be contacted for further information and assistance.

The Commission also instructed that all questions and concerns regarding the Parliamentary Elections be forwarded to the respective Returning Officers of the constituencies where the candidates are vying for seats, for prompt assistance and guidance.

“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the General Public that all Prospective Candidates who wish to contest the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections as Independent Candidates should contact the Commission for a Passcode. This will enable the aspirants download the Presidential and Parliamentary Nomination Forms posted on the website of the Commission”.
