Mahama Set to Embark on Campaign Tour of Volta Region

Former President John Dramani Mahama

The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama, is set to begin a campaign tour of the Volta Region, slated from Tuesday, August 13 to Friday, August 16, 2024.

The Volta Regional Secretary of the opposition party, James Gunu, in a statement indicated that the tour is a critical component of the party’s flagbearer’s broader strategy to connect with the Ghanaian electorate, particularly as the December 7th General Elections draw closer.

“While in the Region, President Mahama will traverse all eighteen (18) constituencies touching base with the grassroots; engaging in retail door-to-door interactions; market-to-market conversations; lorry station-to-lorry station chats; broad-base community mobilizations; and climax the tours with rallies”.

James GUNU, Regional Secretary, NDC

The hands-on approach according to Mr Gunu underscores former President Mahama’s commitment to understanding the everyday struggles of Ghanaians and reflects his determination to “reset Ghana” onto a path of economic stability and development.

Mahama’s Vision to Revive Ghana’s Economy

Highlighting the key highlights of former President Mahama’s campaign of the region, Mr Gunu indicated that the party’s flagbearer would share with the electorates in the region his ’24-hour economic policy, which he noted has been described as a game-changer for Ghana’s economy.

The 24-hour economy policy, along with the ‘$10 billion Big Push’ infrastructural development agenda, Mr Gunu stated will be at the forefront of Mr Mahama’s message to the people of the Volta Region.

Moreover, the Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, James Gunu mentioned that these initiatives are part of a broader set of pro-poor policies designed by the NDC to create sustainable jobs for the youth, rebuild the country’s infrastructure, and stimulate economic growth.

He articulated that former President John Dramani Mahama’s transformational agenda is deeply rooted in the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and shared prosperity.

According to him, Mr Mahama’s policies aim to rebuild trust in governance, restore dignity in leadership, and deliver on the promise of a better Ghana.

“This visit to the Volta Region is not merely a campaign stop but a reaffirmation of his commitment to the people of Ghana and his vision for a prosperous and united nation”, Mr Gunu stated.

The NDC’s Volta Regional Secretary James Gunu, in a rallying call for support, urged all party members, supporters, and well-meaning Ghanaians to turn out in their numbers to welcome former President Mahama.

He emphasized that the National Democratic Congress flagbearer’s visit to the region is an opportunity for the people to hear firsthand about Mr Mahama’s vision and his plans to usher in change, inspire hope, and restore responsible leadership in Ghana.

“Let us rally behind President Mahama as we work together to secure a brighter future for Ghana”, Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC concluded.

In other news, the National Youth Wing of the NDC has issued a press statement announcing a youth-led dialogue with the party’s presidential candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama, to commemorate International Youth Day.

The NDC Youth Wing accordingly urged all young Ghanaians to participate in what it promises to be insightful discussions and engaging activities with the party’s flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama on August 12, 2024.

According to the statement, the day’s activities will kick off with the launch of the NDC Youth Manifesto at the Kofi Chene-Konadu Auditorium, University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA).
