A Burst Pipeline in the Greater Accra Region

The Public Relations Officer Mr. Stanley Mantey has Clarified that the burst pipe along the Dodowa locality is fixed and water distribution will resume soon.

Mr. Mantey acknowledged the minister’s intervention and emphasized the company’s commitment to resolving the situation:

“Prior to the minister’s visit, we had already started pumping water from our Tena booster station into the system, bypassing the booster station, so we could send water into the Ridge area, Airport residential area, Kanda, Osu, Laa, and all the surrounding communities.’’

Mr. Mantey also noted that other areas, including Madina, Adenta, Oyarifa, and Haatso, had also started receiving water as the repairs progressed.

In addition to the repairs and water distribution efforts, Ghana Water Company Limited has implemented a monitoring program to track the progress of water restoration in the affected areas. According to Mr. Mantey, the monitoring has yielded positive results, with many areas already receiving water at high pressure:

“This morning, per our monitoring program, we realized that most of these areas that I’ve mentioned are getting water, and even at high pressures.”

The monitoring process is crucial in ensuring that all communities within Accra East have a stable water supply by the anticipated deadline. Mr. Mantey reassured the public that barring any unforeseen circumstances, full restoration of the water supply is expected by the close of the day:

This proactive approach reflects the company’s determination to fulfill its commitment to the residents of Accra East, ensuring that the water supply is fully restored to normal levels. The ongoing efforts by Ghana Water Company Limited, coupled with the ministerial intervention, underscore the importance of a collaborative approach in addressing water supply challenges.

The company’s dedication to resolving the pipeline issues and restoring water to affected communities highlights its commitment to service delivery. As the September 1 deadline approaches, residents of Accra East remain hopeful that the water supply will be fully restored. With continuous monitoring and the provision of water through tankers, the company has managed to mitigate the impact of the disruption.

However, all stakeholders need to remain vigilant and prepared for any unforeseen circumstances that may arise during the final stages of the restoration process. The resolution of this water supply challenge demonstrates the importance of efficient communication, timely intervention, and a shared commitment to the well-being of affected communities.

Ghana Water Company Vows to Restore Water Supply in Accra East

Meanwhile, the Ghana Water Company Limited has assured the public that efforts are being made to restore water supply to communities within Accra East fully.

However, the ongoing restoration process is expected to be fully completed by Sunday, September 1, 2024. The assurance comes after an inspection by the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, who urged the company to provide water to affected communities through tankers while repairs were being carried out.

The water supply challenges, which impacted several communities in the Greater Accra region, were primarily caused by a malfunction in one of the main pipelines at Dodowa.

However, Mr. Mantey reiterated that the pipe has been successfully repaired, and the company has already begun pumping water into the affected areas, Mr. Mantey stated:

“We have completed the repairs of the pipelines and resolved all the challenges on the pipeline. By 6 PM yesterday, we had started production and pumping into the Dodowa booster station and the northeastern part of the metropolis.’’

The swift response by the company has provided some relief to affected residents, with reports indicating that several communities have begun receiving water.
