Ghanaian singer and songwriter, Raphael Camidoh Attachie, better known by the stage name Camidoh has urged industry stakeholders to step up their game by making significant investments in music productions, particularly in the quality of music videos.

He was responding to comments on how differently the Nigerian music industry was thriving ahead of Ghana’s music space.

He stressed that the reluctance of local investors to back music video production and promotion is holding the industry back. Comparing the local industry to Nigeria’s, the music sensation highlighted the vast difference in budget allocations.

“In Nigeria, their budget for shooting a music video is massive. If one takes a look at their budget, it can be able to shoot a Ghanaian film,” he said, underscoring the need for Ghana to emulate this approach.

Camidoh believes investors in the Nigerian industry have realized the potential and returns from the sector which is missing in the local industry.

Although the local space is seeing growth, he alludes that more could be done to ramp up activities by emulating their colleagues in Nigeria.

The artist noted that while Ghana once had substantial investments in its music industry, many investors became disappointed with the returns.

“That has become the problem. But maybe we haven’t figured it out. We are lacking when it comes to investments.”

Reflecting on his musical journey,  the ‘Breakfast’ singer shared how he was inspired by Akon during his early music days, selling ‘Sobolo’, ‘Pure Water’, and ‘Asanaa’ on a table in Ola Girls SHS in the Volta region, where he sat to write his raps.

Extending gratitude to his fanbase and Ghanaians for their support by far, Camidoh also advised upcoming artists and the populace to carve a niche for themselves to stay relevant. “To find a spot, you need to find that unique thing that nobody else can do,” he said.

Camidoh’s recent accomplishment with the ‘Sugarcane Remix’ hitting 100 million views on YouTube showcases the importance of putting more resources into artistic projects. The song’s success marks a significant milestone in his career, making him the first Ghanaian artist to reach that number.

A few months after releasing the heartbreak anthem, ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, Camidoh is out with a remix of the song. The remix features King Paluta, Kelvyn Boy, Medikal, Lyrical Joe, and Beeztrap KOTM.

‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ themed on heartbreak and disappointment, reveals an unpleasant situation Camidoh went into about a year ago. Camidoh recounts that the song talks about love having its up and down moments. It advises people to apply logic when dealing with the pain as he did.

Artist Condemns President Akufo-Addo’s ‘Failed’ Government

Camidoh has condemned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Writing on X, the ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ hitmaker (NFL) categorically stated: “The government has failed us…”

“Big shame,” he admonished, also.

Camidoh did not specify in what areas the government had woefully failed. However, in a subsequent post on X, he appeared to double down, albeit with flagrant words. “Sh*tty people, y’all disgust us,” the rapper-turned-singer said.

In between the two posts cited, Camidoh reposted words from an X user, Sika Official, denouncing the arrest of 39 Democracy Hub protesters who were on Tuesday arraigned and remanded for engaging in what the police called unlawful acts during the three-day protest.

“Walahi, this country makes me sick. Why are innocent people being taken to court for protesting against the same thing we are all suffering from? These people are out there actively destroying our water bodies with this galamsey activity, but it’s the innocent protesters you chose to arrest. Ghana Police should bow their heads in shame.”
