John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his concerns about the integrity of certain political figures, specifically targeting President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia.
He emphasized that the most dangerous individuals in politics are those who profess one set of beliefs or intentions while behaving in a completely different manner.
Mahama underscored the importance of accountability and authenticity in leadership, arguing that such duplicity can have serious consequences for the nation’s future.
“I laughed when Akufo-Addo challenged me to declare my stance on some matters. Ghanaians know me; they know what I believe in and stand for. Unfortunately, we’ve been led by a pair of leaders who have always said one thing and done another for eight years”.

The former President further criticized Akufo-Addo and Bawumia for their failure to effectively combat illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, which has become a significant environmental and social issue in Ghana.
He pointed out that rather than taking decisive action to protect the country’s natural resources, the current administration has allowed their appointees and various stakeholders to engage in activities that have devastated water bodies and forests.
He urged for stronger leadership and accountability to ensure the protection of Ghana’s vital natural resources for future generations. “They lied about building dams”.

Mahama stated that he fulfilled his promise to deliver the Pina dam, even while in opposition.“They lied about building the economy; today, we are all suffering because they’ve destroyed every sector of the economy”.
The NDC flagbearer emphasized that Ghana needs a leader who is not only honest and visionary but also committed to meaningful change.
He believes that such a leader should consistently follow through on promises and implement effective policies designed to ensure a brighter future for our children, the youth, and all Ghanaians.
According to Mahama, this approach will foster growth and stability for generations to come.“And that [leader] is John Mahama and the NDC”.
Kwetey Accuses Bawumia of Failing to Deliver on Key Promises
Furthermore, the General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, criticized Vice President Bawumia, stating that his failure to deliver on key promises, such as stabilizing the cedi, has contributed to growing disillusionment among the populace.
He highlighted the stalled Pwalugu Dam project, which has further compounded the frustrations of Ghanaians who expected timely and effective governance.
Kwetey pointed out that the most recent Afrobarometer survey indicates that honesty is the highest priority for Ghanaians as they approach the polls.

He emphasized that this finding underscores widespread dissatisfaction with the government’s lack of transparency and integrity.
“This value is exemplified by H.E. John Mahama, who brings transparent leadership and genuine respect for the people—a refreshing contrast to Dr. Bawumia’s trail of unfulfilled promises and shifting stances”.
Fifi Fiavi Kwetey
The NDC stalwart asserted that although the NPP may make efforts to engage in vote-buying, the findings of the Afrobarometer survey indicate that such tactics are unlikely to sway the electorate.
He emphasized that Ghanaians are becoming increasingly discerning and are prioritizing integrity and genuine leadership over monetary incentives.
This sentiment reflects a growing awareness among voters of the importance of holding leaders accountable for their promises and actions.
As a result, he believes that attempts to manipulate the electoral process with money and gifts will ultimately fail to resonate with a populace that is focused on securing a better future through honest governance.
Kwetey encouraged Ghanaians to accept any money offered to them during the election season, but he emphasized the importance of remembering their true commitment to democracy.
He urged voters to cast their votes for John Mahama during the December elections.
Kwetey maintained that Mahama is a leader they can trust to prioritize their needs and work diligently toward building the Ghana they truly deserve.
