GNPC Foundation Warns Against Scholarship Scams

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation has issued a strong warning to individuals attempting to extort money from applicants of its scholarship program. 

This announcement comes in response to reports of fraudulent activities targeting potential scholarship recipients.

In a recent public notice, the Foundation reiterated its commitment to supporting students in their educational pursuits without any financial burden.

The GNPC Foundation urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities, highlighting that fraudsters may attempt to manipulate applicants by demanding payment to facilitate the scholarship application process.

“GNPC Foundation would like to bring to the notice of the general public, particularly prospective GNPC Scholars that some unscrupulous persons are demanding or soliciting for money from some GNPC scholarship applicants as a means of facilitating or aiding their process of securing GNPC scholarship facility”.

The Foundation advised prospective students to take proactive steps to safeguard themselves against scams, emphasizing the importance of relying solely on official channels for information regarding the scholarship program. 

This includes visiting the Foundation’s official website, following its verified social media accounts, and directly contacting its representatives for any inquiries related to the scholarship.

By raising awareness about potential fraudulent activities, the Foundation aims to empower students to navigate the scholarship application process safely. 

The Foundation also expressed its commitment to transparency and security is intended to help deserving students access the support they need to further their education without the risk of falling victim to deceitful schemes. 

Accordingly, it underscored the importance of vigilance and due diligence in verifying the authenticity of any offers or requests for payment related to the scholarship program, ensuring that all interactions remain legitimate and trustworthy.

GNPC Foundation Confirms Scholarships Are Free of Charge 

Furthermore, the GNPC Foundation emphasized unequivocally that no payment is required from scholarship applicants to qualify for the scholarship program. 

This clear stance aims to eliminate any misconceptions regarding the application process and to reinforce the Foundation’s commitment to providing financial assistance to deserving students without any associated costs.

In light of this, the Foundation also cautioned the public against engaging with fraudulent individuals who may attempt to solicit or demand money under the guise of facilitating access to GNPC scholarships.

Such deceitful practices, according to the Foundation, not only jeopardize the integrity of the scholarship program but also exploit vulnerable applicants seeking financial support for their education.

The GNPC Foundation also expressed its commitment to protect students and ensure that they can pursue their academic goals without falling prey to scammers seeking to take advantage of their aspirations.

“For the purposes of emphasis, GNPC scholarship is free of charge to all Ghanaian students who meet the set criteria. 

“The General Public is hereby reminded that acts which fall on all fours with Personation, Extortion, and Defrauding by False Pretence are crimes under the Criminal Offences Act 1960(Act 29) and offenders will be made to face full rigors of the law”.

In response to these fraudulent activities, the GNPC Foundation announced that the relevant security agencies are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. 

The Foundation expressed its commitment to cooperating fully with law enforcement to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for these deceptive practices.

By involving the appropriate authorities, the GNPC Foundation aims to ensure that those who exploit vulnerable scholarship applicants are brought to justice. 

The Foundation underscored the importance of accountability in maintaining the integrity of the scholarship program and safeguarding the interests of prospective students.

Through these efforts, the GNPC Foundation hopes to deter further fraudulent activities and reassure the public that it is taking the necessary steps to protect individuals from scams while promoting a safe and transparent scholarship application process.
