Similarly, Wumi Toriola had bagged a box office award. The Yoruba actress took to her Instagram page to share the news with her fans and followers, as she revealed that she was just awarded the box office champion of 2024 by NFVCB.

Funke Akindele is currently the Queen of Box Office after she made history in January as the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross over a billion at cinemas, with her 2023 movie, A Tribe Called Judah, which grossed over N1.4 billion.

It was no surprise to many as Funke is one of the most hardworking women in Nollywood.

AY, Mabel Allegedly in Bitter Custody Battle Over Child

The Nigerian comedian and box office king, Ayo Makun and his estranged wife, Mabel Makun, are allegedly in a bitter custody battle over their second child.

According to reports, Mabel has denied AY all access to his second daughter. An insider noted that AY hadn’t reached his second daughter since Mabel left the marriage, so he had to cut through corners by contacting the child’s nanny to speak to his child.

The reports claimed that Mabel walked in on AY talking to their daughter on the nanny’s phone and had sacked her immediately, and AY, after finding out what became of the nanny, offered her a job in his house.

Now, it is left for a judge to give the comedian visitation rights or allow him to co-parent peacefully.

The insider further claimed that the war between the two is now so toxic that no one can intervene.

Social media users are reacting to comedian, Ayo Makun and his estranged wife, Mabel Makun’s alleged bitter custody battle over their second child.

“It’s so bad to deny a man access to his children because you are divorced unless he has been violent towards them.”

Olubiyi Pace

“Mabel should allow him to contact his child nah haba. That he stopped being a husband doesn’t mean he should stop being a father. He has the right to see his child.”

Topaz_int

“Maybe the child is not his sha. Cos only a mother knows the real father of her children.”

“But AY has equal parenting rights like her, so why is she restricting him?”

“No woman should ever deny a father of being part of his kids’ life. That’s cruel.”

It can be recalled that in AY confirmed the end of his almost 20-year relationship with Mabel, expressing regrets for losing his home, and also admitted to doing things that were compromising during the marriage.

Mabel also broke her silence, stating that her dreams of a lifelong marriage had now taken a different direction and pleaded with the media and public to give them privacy as they navigate their new phase.
