Highly-rated Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, better known as Davido has finally reacted amid criticism trailing his recent comment about Nigeria’s economy.

Recall that a video that showed Davido being grilled by a host at a US radio station surfaced online. In the clip, Davido was asked to provide a piece of advice for Nigerians who wish to return back home.

Responding, Davido vehemently kicked against such an idea, stating that returning wasn’t a good option as the country’s economy is in shambles.

He added that the exchange rate and several sectors of the country are badly affected.

In no time, some Nigerians such as Reno Omokri, Patrick Doyle, and others tackled Davido over his comment, expressing disappointment over his comment about Nigeria.

In a recent development, Davido took to his X handle with millions of followers where he sharply reacted to the brouhaha.

Verydarkman, in a video response, blasted Reno Omokri, Patrick Doyle, and others criticizing Davido, arguing that they were speaking without thinking.

He contended that Davido’s comments were not entirely off the mark, given the current state of insecurity and economic instability in Nigeria.

Verydarkman emphasized the need for contextual understanding, suggesting that Davido’s comments should be viewed in light of the country’s pressing issues.

He argued that the music star should have started by addressing the issue of insecurity in Nigeria, which would have provided a more nuanced perspective on the matter.

The activist also seized the opportunity to highlight the economic challenges facing Nigeria, citing the exodus of top brands and companies from the country.

He listed several firms that had left Nigeria in 2024, including Cusson, Kimberly-Clark, and Microsoft, attributing their departure to the challenging business environment.

Verydarkman painted a stark picture of the economic reality in Nigeria, revealing that many citizens were struggling to survive on less than $5 per week. He shared prices of basic food items, highlighting how many people could no longer afford to purchase them.

In a stern warning, Verydarkman cautioned critics to refrain from dragging Davido, emphasizing that the music star had not lied in his interview. He reiterated that Davido’s comments, although imperfect, were rooted in a deeper understanding of Nigeria’s complexities.

Afrobeats singer, Davido, claimed that the best doctors in the United States are of Nigerian descent.

He claimed while highlighting the contributions of Africans to both the professional and creative sectors.

Davido pointed out that Africans are some of the brightest brains in the global music industry, stressing that Western filmmakers are now turning to the continent for movie ideas.

“The best doctors in America are Nigerians. You can search for it. Even in my record label [Sony Music], Africans bring the best ideas. That shows that our imagination is off the grid. Netflix and Amazon Prime come to Africa to get movie ideas.

“Now, when you come on Netflix, you will see about two Nigerian movies in the top 10. Africa is next, trust me. I feel like we have everything but just missing a couple of things.”

Davido

Although Nigerians are renowned doctors in America, statistics do not show that they are the best.
