Fifi Kwetey Assures Amenfi Central of Development, Rallies for Change

Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, National Democratic Congress General Secretary

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has reaffirmed his party’s commitment to addressing the pressing challenges of mining communities and fostering sustainable development across Ghana.

Mr Kwetey, in a statement recounting his campaign tour of Amenfi Central Constituency in the Western Region, outlined the NDC’s vision for the area, emphasizing a brighter, inclusive future for Ghanaians under the next John Mahama-led government.

“As part of the campaign tour, I visited communities in the Amenfi Central Constituency of the Western Region—Ankase, Watrim, Juabo, and Ankawaso. I was accompanied by Mr. Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary; Alhaji Sherrif Nasir, former NEC member; and Madam Adwoa Serwah Bondzie”.

Misunderstanding “Expertise” in Ghana’s Public Policy Debates

“Our next NDC government will prioritize responsible mining practices, address the poor road network, and improve internet connectivity in the area,” he assured. He emphasized the National Democratic Congress’s commitment to tackling environmental degradation and infrastructure deficits while ensuring sustainable development.

“Together, we will build a better future,” he added, calling on constituents to remain steadfast in their support for the National Democratic Congress. The issues facing Amenfi Central—environmental degradation from mining, poor road infrastructure, and limited internet connectivity—reflect broader national challenges.

A Broader Vision for Ghana: Women’s Empowerment at the Core

In another statement, Mr Kwetey also reiterated the National Democratic Congress’s pledge to empower women through the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank.

Describing the initiative as a critical pillar for national growth, he said, “Empowering women means empowering the entire nation! The NDC is committed to creating opportunities for women to thrive, grow businesses, and secure their futures.”

He linked women’s empowerment to broader national transformation, calling it a crucial step toward building a Ghana where “everyone has a fair chance to succeed.”

With just nine days to the 2024 general elections, Mr Kwetey urged Ghanaians to make a decisive choice for progress and transformation by voting for the National Democratic Congress and its flagbearer former President John Dramani Mahama.

He passionately encouraged voters to identify with the National Democratic Congress’s iconic umbrella symbol on the ballot paper, which he described as a beacon of hope for Ghana’s future.

“On December 7, let’s choose progress and transformation. Vote for John Mahama. Vote National Democratic Congress, Just look for the umbrella!” he declared, signalling the party’s readiness to return to power and deliver its promises.

As December 7 draws near, the National Democratic Congress is positioning itself as the party of progress, addressing grassroots concerns while promoting policies that empower women, strengthen infrastructure, and tackle environmental challenges.
