Nacee’s ‘Kwen Kwen’ Grabs Number 1 Spot on Apple Music

Nacee and President John Dramani Mahama

Amidst the jubilation and victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections, the party’s campaign song is also making strides on Apple Music in Ghana.

A quick search of the 100 most played music in Ghana on Apple Music shows that the song ‘Kwen kwen’ is at the top spot followed by Funds from Davido featuring ODUMODUBLVCK.

The NDC Campaign song is the most-played song in Ghana currently per Apple Music. This corroborates the monumental victory of the party in the 2024 elections which has caused jubilation across some streets in Accra.

The song was composed by gospel artist, Nacee who has been a usual campaign song composer for the party since the 2016 elections.

The song highlights Mahama’s policies for the economy while preaching his goodwill message to Ghanaians.

In a surprising turn, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, conceded defeat ahead of the official declaration from the Electoral Commission (EC).

This clears the way for John Mahama, the NDC’s flagbearer, to secure a second term as President of Ghana.

Celebrations at the NDC headquarters in Accra are in full swing, with party supporters jubilantly anticipating Mahama’s victory.

A significant factor in the campaign’s success is attributed to a strong focus on grassroots mobilization and the widespread appeal of ‘Kwen Kwen’, which has struck a powerful chord with Ghanaians yearning for change.

Before the election, John Mahama commended Nacee for his ability to craft a song that perfectly aligns with the party’s campaign message.

Mahama praised Nacee’s creativity, acknowledging that his music captured the essence of the NDC’s vision for the future.

The NDC’s victory has sparked celebrations nationwide, with party faithful hailing the win as a testament to the leadership, humility, and vision of John Dramani Mahama.

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa officially declared John Mahama, candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the winner of the 2024 Presidential Election, following the late announcement on the evening of December 9, 2024.

Mahama polled 6,328,397 votes representing 56.5% while Dr. Bawumia garnered 4,657,304 votes representing 41.61%. These results announced by Jean Mensa were based on the collated results from 267 constituencies out of the 276.

The EC said it is awaiting the collated results from nine constituencies which, however, will not affect the declaration of John Mahama as the President-elect.

Medikal Expresses Belief in John Mahama

Rapper Medikal has openly shared his full belief in President-elect John Dramani Mahama, urging him to prioritize the future of Ghana’s youth and drive meaningful change when he assumes office.

In a series of posts on Twitter (X), the popular “Omo Ada” artist expressed his faith in Mahama, emphasizing that while he may not fully trust the incoming president, he firmly believes in his ability to bring about positive transformation.

Medikal called on Mahama to focus on the betterment of the younger generation when he is sworn in.

“Let it be known to the incoming president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, that I do not trust him but rather believe in him. Let this new change be exhibited drastically! If not for anything, he should foresee the future of Sharaf, a good friend of mine (His son), and the progress of the youth in Ghana and beyond.”

This message highlights Medikal’s desire to see the President work for the welfare of the youth, whose future he believes is crucial to the country’s growth.

Medikal’s comments come amid a significant political development in Ghana. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), officially conceded defeat to John Mahama following the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

While Medikal calls on the President-elect to focus on the future of Ghana’s youth, Bawumia’s concession underscores the importance of respecting the will of the people, regardless of the outcome.

Ghana’s democracy has long been known for its stability and peaceful transitions, and this election cycle is no different.

The actions of both Medikal and Bawumia highlight the importance of unity and cooperation in the political landscape, ensuring that the focus remains on the country’s development and the welfare of its citizens.

As Ghana prepares for Mahama’s second term in office, there are expectations for significant changes, especially in terms of youth empowerment, job creation, and national development.

Medikal’s support for the new administration, while urging Mahama to fulfill his promises to the youth, reflects the hopes of many Ghanaians who are eager to see tangible progress in the country’s future.

With the transition of power underway, all eyes will be on Mahama to see how he addresses these key issues, fulfilling the faith and trust placed in him by the citizens, including figures like Medikal who are hoping for a brighter future for Ghana’s young generation.
