Beauty Expert Deebee Debunks Makeup Myths

Deebee

Renowned beauty expert, Edem Dotsey, known as Deebee has tackled some of the most common misconceptions about makeup.

With an engaging and practical approach, Deebee broke down myths that have long influenced how people view and use makeup.

One of the first misconceptions Deebee addressed was the belief that makeup inherently damages the skin.

He reassured viewers that as long as products are applied and removed correctly, makeup poses no harm. “Skincare is the foundation of healthy skin, and proper makeup habits only enhance it,” He explained.

Another myth under the spotlight was the idea that heavier makeup equals better coverage. Deebee encouraged viewers to embrace a more minimalistic approach, which he argued, often results in a fresher and more natural look.

“Less is often more when it comes to makeup,” he advised, demonstrating how subtle techniques can highlight one’s natural features without overpowering them.

Deebee also dismantled the notion that beauty comes at a high price, sharing that affordable makeup brands often perform just as well as luxury options.

“It’s not about how much you spend, but how you use the products,” he said, emphasizing the importance of skill over cost.

Perhaps the most powerful part was Deebee’s message about inclusivity.

He challenged the stereotype that makeup is solely for women, advocating for it as a tool for self-expression for people of all genders.

“Makeup has no boundaries. It’s for anyone who wants to enhance their confidence or creativity.”

Deebee on Inspiring Journey

Deebee, a talented and determined young makeup artist, shared his remarkable journey into the world of beauty.

With unwavering passion and dedication, Deebee has overcome numerous challenges to establish himself as a rising star in the makeup industry.

Deebee’s fascination with makeup began at a young age, when he was in Senior High School when he studied visual art which involves painting and brush, and discovered his talent for transforming faces and boosting confidence.

His educational background is rooted in fashion design, having pursued a program at Accra Technical University.

However, during his academic journey, he experienced a significant shift in passion and interest, although he has shifted his primary focus to makeup, he hasn’t entirely abandoned his fashion design.

Despite facing initial skepticism from those around him, he remained resolute in pursuing his dreams.

“I am a guy and I’m doing makeup up and in the society, we are in, it’s not common for a man to do something a woman is supposed to do; therefore, everyone has their thought about you, and because we are human some comments will break you but it didn’t discourage me but kept me moving.”

Deebee also acknowledged the unique challenges of being a male makeup artist in a predominantly female-dominated industry.

He revealed that he often faces resistance from women, but remains undeterred in his pursuit of success. Instead, Deebee sees his presence in the industry as an opportunity to bring a fresh perspective and approach.

He noted that his male presence in a traditionally female-dominated field often generates more attention, simply because people are intrigued to see a man excel in a space typically associated with women.

Deebee also shared another challenge he faces as a male makeup artist: maintaining professionalism in the face of temptation. He admitted that when beautiful women sit in his chair, often with revealing clothing, it can be distracting.

However, he emphasized that he remains focused on his work, committed to delivering exceptional results and providing a respectful, professional service to his clients.

He recounted the early days of his TikTok journey stating that he used voiceovers in his content creation and because he is from the Volta Region, he cleverly incorporated traditional elements, such as the Agbadza dance and Ewe songs, into his videos and that’s how he started being noticed.

Deebee’s hard work and perseverance have earned him a loyal client base and recognition within the industry.

As he continues to grow and evolve as an artist, he remains committed to inspiring others to pursue their passions, regardless of obstacles or criticism. He has students who learn from him and has been empowering them.

He also advised anyone who wants to be in the make-up industry to stay focused and do what they love.
