The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confirmed the seizure of a luxury Lamborghini Urus SUV from popular Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale.
The vehicle is said to be linked to convicted Ghanaian-American fraudster Nana Kwabena Amuah, also known as Philip Osei Tutu.
The high-end vehicle, which was in the possession of Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale at the time of the seizure, was reportedly acquired using proceeds from Amuah’s multi-million-dollar romance and business email compromise schemes in the United States.
In a statement, EOCO revealed that the confiscation followed a formal request from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Department of Justice, who had identified the vehicle as an asset purchased with fraudulently acquired funds.
“The operation which was undertaken by the Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) of WOCO led to the discovery and seizuere of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus which the FBI and the justice department have tied to the proceeds of the criminal enterprise of one Nana Kwabena Amuah who is currently serving an 86 month sentence for several financial crimes in the US.”

It added that “the car was seized from one Charles Nii Armah, aka Shatta Wale. The officers were professional and civil and the search and seizures occurred without incident”.
EOCO said Shatta Wale, who was present when its officials visited his residence, initially resisted efforts to take the vehicle.
However, he later complied and voluntarily handed over the keys after learning the true nature of the matter.
The car was among several properties flagged in the US judgment that sentenced Amuah to prison and ordered him to pay over $4 million in restitution to his victims. “The vehicle has been duly secured and will be handed over to the United States authorities under the judgment issued by the US District Court,” EOCO said in its press release.
EOCO has reiterated its commitment to assisting international law enforcement efforts and urged the public to cooperate in similar cases as the country strengthens its asset recovery and anti-money laundering framework.
However, the EOCO claims “Nii Armah had pleaded with officers that he did not want the seizure to be made public and the use of the vehicle was a big part of his brand, and if his supporters saw the vehicle being driven away in the company of EOCO, it would destroy his brand”.
Shatta Wale Accuses EOCO of Invading His Residence
The popular Ghanaian dancehall artist accused officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) of invading his residence with guns.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Shatta Wale alleged that the Executive Director of EOCO, Raymond Archer, led the operation and that the officials were armed during the alleged invasion.
Although he did not indicate the specific time or reason for the incident, Shatta Wale expressed his displeasure at what he described as an act of intimidation.
Shatta Wale claimed, “EOCO boss, the President of Ghana didn’t put you in that office to come and humiliate the citizens of this country. Remember God no sleep.”
He further warned that such actions could have political consequences, saying, “Raymond Archer EOCO Boss, Ibe you go make NDC go out of power next 4yrs. Bringing guns to my house was uncalled for.”
During a press conference on Monday, August 4, 2025, the Ghana Police Service, through its Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said it reclaimed 43 high-value luxury cars between January and July 2025, stolen from abroad and shipped to Ghana.
The confiscated vehicles, including Rolls-Royce, Audi, Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz models, were stolen from countries across Europe and North America and illegally imported into Ghana.
Shatta Wale boasts of an enviable garage comprising several luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan worth over $500k and a Lamborghini Urus.
The musician was one of several names allegedly connected to the embattled business mogul Kofi Boat, who was recently arrested. The alleged suspected scammer is being prepared to be extradited to the US to face the law.
