The creative economy has emerged as a pivotal sector for economic growth and cultural expression worldwide in recent years.

In Ghana, the call for a vibrant creative economy has gained momentum, with influential figures like Fiifi Coleman advocating for its development.

Fifii Coleman stressed the importance of having the right people in the right positions to drive growth in the creative industry. “We want to have a system where we have the round pegs in the round holes and the square ones in the square holes,” he said.

Fifii Coleman advocated for policies that support entrepreneurs in the creative sector.

“I’m expecting policies that allow those of us who are entrepreneurs in the sector to, love what we do, empowering us.”

He also emphasized the need for Ghana’s creative industry to be self-sufficient and export-oriented.

“I want to take what we have and shove it into their faces too, so they can also receive it. We’re not always receiving from them, but we also take it out there to them.”

Fifii Coleman further called for a minister who understands the needs of the entertainment industry’s youth.

“I want to have a minister who understands what is required for us to be at par. How do we get there?”

He also highlighted the importance of education, promotion, and collaboration between old and new generations of creatives. “We should hold their hands…We should tap into them and use them for what we need to do,” he said, referring to the pioneers of Ghana’s creative industry.

Fiifi Coleman’s call for a vibrant creative economy in Ghana resonates with many who recognize the potential of the arts to drive economic growth and cultural identity.

By addressing the challenges faced by the creative sector and implementing strategic initiatives, Ghana cultivates an environment where creativity flourishes.

As the country continues to evolve, the creative economy plays a pivotal role in shaping its future, offering opportunities for innovation, employment, and cultural exchange.

With advocates like Coleman leading the charge, there is hope for a brighter and more vibrant creative landscape in Ghana.

Fiifi Urges Fellow Actors to Support Private Welfare Scheme

The Ghanaian filmmaker and actor urged his fellow actors and actresses to participate in a private welfare scheme aimed at supporting veteran performers by contributing to their insurance premiums.

This initiative, led by Coleman in partnership with Hollard Insurance, seeks to secure a stable future for actors who often find themselves reliant on public assistance as they age and face health challenges.

Fiifi Coleman expressed that many veterans from earlier generations did not have the foresight to consider such support systems, making it crucial for current actors to take proactive steps for their future.

“I’m reaching out to my colleagues who are fortunate enough to invest in our own welfare. Our predecessors lacked the knowledge we have today.”

Fiifi Coleman

He also shared his vision of a future where every actor can enjoy a dignified retirement, supported by this initiative.

Additionally, Coleman revealed that his production company is already covering the insurance premiums for ten veterans.

The launch of this welfare scheme took place in Accra on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Accra Marriott Hotel.

Fiifi Coleman envisions a robust creative economy that not only supports artists but also integrates them into the broader economic framework of the country.
