He was surrounded by his family: wife Usha and children Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel.

Trump was sworn in on two Bibles; his personal Bible and the Lincoln Bible-the same bible Lincoln used during his swearing-in ceremony in 1861.

Trump used the same two to take the oath of office in 2017. “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Trump said in his oath.

The Presidential Oath of Office is specified in Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution. The oath for other federal officials, including the Vice President, is not in the Constitution. Congress created those oaths by statute.

The guests present included political leaders, former Presidents and influential billionaires, including Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.

Shortly after being sworn in, President Donald Trump delivered his inaugural address.

He vowed to “put America first,” saying, “The golden age of America begins right now.”

Asserting that “the scales of justice will be rebalanced,” Trump stated that the “vicious, violent and unfair weaponization” of the Justice Department and government will end.

He said that he is returning as the 47th President “confident and optimistic that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success.”

He added that “a tide of change is sweeping the country.”

Also, Trump said that the country is currently in decline, criticizing the education and health care system.

“All of this will change starting today, and it will change very quickly.

“My recent election is a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal, and all of these many betrayals that have taken place, and to give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy and, indeed, their freedom. From this moment on, America’s decline is over.”

Trump acknowledged that many people lost their homes in wildfires that raged through Los Angeles in recent weeks.

He slammed the Biden administration for failing to “manage simple crisis at home.”

President Donald Trump claimed today, January 20, 2025, is “liberation day.”

“It is my hope that our recent presidential election will be remembered as the greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country,”

Additionally, Trump said that his “life was saved” by the grace of God to make America great again, in reference to the assassination attempt made on his life.

He said that he is declaring a “national energy emergency” to help to bring down prices, one of his key campaign promises. “We will drill, baby, drill,” he said.

Trump listed a number of executive orders he plans to sign to start implementing to his administrations agenda.

Moreover, Trump claimed during his inaugural address that Panama has violated treaty agreements that require neutrality in the canal’s operations.

“American ships are being severely overcharged and not treated fairly in any way, shape or form, and that includes the United States Navy. And above all, China is operating the Panama Canal and we didn’t give it to China. We gave it to Panama. And we’re taking it back.”
