Richie Mensah Reveals Kuami Eugene’s Status With Record Label

Richie Mensah and Kuami Eugene

The Chief Executive Officer of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, has confirmed that popular Ghanaian artist Kuami Eugene is no longer signed to his label.

Richie Mensah responded to a question about Kuami Eugene’s status with the record label.

Asked if Kuami is no longer with Lynx, he replied: “Yes, that’s public knowledge.”

His comment confirms that Kuami Eugene had exited the Lynx label after being signed for eight (8) years.

In October 2024, Kuami Eugene dispelled rumors that he had left Lynx Entertainment. According to him, if he leaves Lynx, he and the record label will release an official communication to that effect.

In the meantime, Richie has revealed the artists that are currently signed to Lynx Entertainment.

Some musicians who have worked with Lynx in the past are Eazzy, O.J. Blaq, Zigi, Asem, and Irene Logan.

Richie Mensah, the Ghanaian singer-songwriter and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lynx Entertainment also shared valuable insights into the music industry.

Responding to rumors about some artists leaving the label, he confirmed that currently, only three artists have a 360 record deal with Lynx.

“There are three artists on 360 deal. There is KiDi, there is DJ Vyrusky, there is DSL,” he said, adding that some of the artists that have left the label still have distribution contracts with him.

“A 360 deal means we handle everything for you. But the distribution means we are handling your music out there.”

Richie also emphasized the importance of hard work, strategic planning, and understanding the dynamics of different artist deals.

He offered a pragmatic perspective on achieving success: “The more valuable you are, the more services you can get.”

He encouraged aspiring artists to focus on their craft, rather than complaining.

Richie Urges Artists To Take Control of Their Careers

Ghanaian record producer and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lynx Group, Richie Mensah, proffered advice to his fellow entertainers.

Richie Mensah advocated for hard work over complaints, urging artists to take control of their careers and financial futures.

He further noted that creatives should take charge of their careers rather than repose their hope in government.

“Stop looking for help from the government. Do it yourself! When we entertainers start doing things properly, stop swerving taxes, and begin generating substantial income, the government will have no choice but to take notice. We need to stop thinking we’re special and that we need to be chosen.”

Richie Mensah

Richie’s message is underscored by his company’s launch of a new music distribution platform, a move aimed at empowering artists. He explained, “We’ve semi-launched a music distribution platform to empower people to be creatives.”

This initiative directly addresses the challenges many artists face in navigating the complexities of the music industry.

This platform promises to simplify the process and maximize opportunities for Ghanaian musicians. The email address for this platform is Email distribution@lynxfamily.com.

The renowned record producer and entrepreneur emphasized the importance of self-reliance in building a sustainable career in the creative arts industry.

Richie disclosed that he consistently shares this sentiment with the artists he mentors at Lynx Entertainment, the record label that has nurtured some of Ghana’s biggest stars. “Whenever I meet my artists, I always tell them not to rely on the government,” he stated.

Richie Mensah explained that the government’s role in the creative sector, while important, often falls short of meeting the specific needs of individual creatives.

He noted that successful artists and entrepreneurs typically achieve their goals by taking initiative, thinking outside the box, and making independent strides.

“Waiting on the government can stall your progress. You need to focus on your craft, build your network, and find ways to make things happen for yourself.”

Richie Mensah

Mensah’s bold statement is a call for a shift in mindset within the Ghanaian entertainment industry, promoting self-sufficiency and proactive entrepreneurship over-dependence on external support.
