GIBA Commends Sam George’s Appointment, Highlights Visionary Leadership

The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) has acknowledged the appointment of Hon. Samuel Nartey George as a noteworthy milestone.

In a statement, GIBA highlighted the Ningo-Prampram MP’s appointment as a testament to his unwavering dedication, extensive expertise, and visionary leadership. 

The Association further emphasized that this development represents a significant step forward in strengthening and advancing Ghana’s digital infrastructure and technological growth.

“The President and Executive Council on behalf of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) extends heartfelt congratulations to Samuel Nartey George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, on his nomination as Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations by His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama”.

The Association further noted that Hon. George, an influential leader within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a distinguished member of the Ghanaian Parliament since 2016, brings a wealth of experience, strategic insight, and proven leadership to this newly restructured ministry.

According to the Association, Sam George’s established track record in governance and policy-making positions him as a valuable asset in driving the ministry’s agenda and achieving its objectives.

GIBA further highlighted that Hon. Samuel Nartey George’s prior experience in the Communications Directorate at the Presidency and his role as a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Communications equips him with a rare combination of legislative and executive expertise.

These dual perspectives, GIBA emphasized, will be instrumental in guiding his efforts and decision-making as he takes on this new and significant responsibility.

The Association stressed that it will also ensure a balanced and effective approach to advancing Ghana’s communication and digital transformation agenda.

Furthermore, the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) recognized the Ministry’s critical mandate, which includes key areas such as digital infrastructure development, policy formulation, digital inclusion, broadcasting, and cybersecurity.

With Ghana positioned as a leader in technological innovation and advancement within the region, GIBA underscored the importance of Hon. Samuel Nartey George’s leadership in driving these initiatives forward. 

According to the Association, Sam George’s role will be pivotal in ensuring that these strategic priorities are effectively executed.

This, the Association noted, will enable the nation to harness the transformative power of technology to foster sustainable development, strengthen governance, and accelerate economic growth.

“We trust that Mr. George will advocate for the interests of the broadcasting sector and work collaboratively with independent broadcasters to promote a vibrant media landscape that upholds high standards and ethical practices. 

“His commitment to digital rights and inclusion aligns well with GIBA’s goals of maintaining the independence of the broadcasting sector and ensuring equitable access to digital technologies for all Ghanaians”.

The Association, therefore, extended its commendation to President John Dramani Mahama for his strategic and visionary decision to appoint knowledgeable and experienced individuals such as Hon. Samuel Nartey George to key ministerial positions. 

They noted that this move demonstrates a strong commitment to tackling the nation’s critical challenges. 

GIBA stated that by appointing capable leaders with proven expertise, such as Hon. Samuel Nartey George, to pivotal ministerial positions, President John Dramani Mahama has demonstrated a renewed commitment to advancing Ghana’s development agenda. 

This strategic approach reflects the President’s focus on fostering effective governance, addressing critical national challenges, and implementing policies that prioritize the well-being and prosperity of all Ghanaians. 

Such appointments, GIBA emphasized, are essential for driving progress and ensuring sustainable growth across key sectors of the economy. “We look forward to the positive changes and innovations Mr. George will spearhead in the digital domain”.

Accordingly, the Association extended its heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Samuel Nartey George on his well-deserved appointment, acknowledging it as a recognition of his dedication and expertise. 

GIBA further expressed their best wishes for his success as he takes on the important responsibilities ahead. 

The Association emphasized their confidence in his ability to deliver impactful leadership and achieve meaningful progress in his new role, contributing to the advancement of Ghana’s communication and digital sectors.
