Mr Drew

Ghanaian singer, Mr Drew has opened up about his unique fashion sense and the inspiration behind his latest EP, ‘Lover Boy Era’.

The singer revealed that he styles himself most of the time, although his younger brother offers input.

“Yes, I do. I just put things together most of the time. My little brother advises me on what to wear—like ‘Okay, take this off’ or ‘This will look better.’ But sometimes, when I feel like I might be late, I just throw things together and run.”

Mr Drew also spoke about his new project, ‘Lover Boy Era’, explaining that it reflects a side of him that fans might not have fully experienced.

“I’ve always been a lover boy, actually. But sometimes you get so busy that you don’t pay attention to certain things. Now, I’m like, let me explore that part of me. Let people feel Mr Drew, the lover boy.”

Mr Drew

Interestingly, the EP’s release coincided with February, the month of love. However, he revealed that this was not intentional.

“It was supposed to come out last year, but due to certain issues, we couldn’t release it. Everything just fell into place naturally. Even the artwork—I did it two years ago without knowing it would align perfectly with the timing of the release.”

When asked about his Valentine’s Day plans, Mr Drew shared that he celebrated with fans at his EP release party.

“I spent it with my people. We had the release party at Garage, and my fans came out. It was an amazing vibe.”

Mr Drew

The ‘Lover Boy Era’ EP features six songs, including collaborations with Olive The Boy, Cido, and Kojo Black. According to him, all the featured artists embody the lover boy spirit.

“The EP is not just about me. All the guys on it are lover boys in their own right. So, why not collaborate and do something amazing together?”

Mr Drew is living up to his ‘Lover Boy Era’ persona, but he wants to see more love coming his way too.

The singer, who recently released his new EP, opened up about his Valentine’s Day surprises and shared an unexpected heartbreak story from his release party.

The ‘Mood’ hitmaker admitted that while he enjoys giving thoughtful gifts, he rarely receives any in return.

“I sent PR packages and flowers. A lot of pink flowers. A very big bouquet. I actually sent them days before Valentine’s and asked, ‘Would you be my Valentine?’”

Mr Drew

But when asked about the best gift he has received on Valentine’s Day, he laughed and said, “For now, a massage. That was it.”

He jokingly called on Ghanaian ladies to do better and playfully addressed his female fans.

“Girls, you people have to let me enjoy small. I give, but I don’t really receive. Ghana girls, we have to do better.”

Mr Drew

Interestingly, Valentine’s Day at his EP release party had its own drama. The artist recounted a story of a guest who left heartbroken after seeing his supposed love interest with another man.

“One of the guys from the gym told me he came to the party and saw the girl he thought he had something with, but she was there with someone else. He was so heartbroken that he left early.”

Mr Drew

He added that the guy might have even invited the lady, only for her to show up with another person. “Maybe he even sent her flowers earlier, and she still went with someone else!” he exclaimed.

“Sometimes, you have a crush, and in your head, you’re already dating them. Then you realize they’re actually falling for someone else. That’s the vibe of OMG.”
