Rupert Lowe Denies Allegations Amid Reform Party Turmoil

Rupert Lowe

Rupert Lowe has pushed back against fresh claims regarding allegations of inappropriate behavior made by female staff members, maintaining that they “had nothing to do with him.”

The Reform MP for Great Yarmouth insists he is the victim of “total lies” and has accused party leadership, including Nigel Farage, of orchestrating a smear campaign against him. However, his claims faced fresh scrutiny after the lawyer appointed to investigate the case refuted his version of events.

Lowe, who had the Reform whip removed following accusations of “serious bullying” and “targeting of female staff,” also faces a police report over alleged threats toward the party chairman. However, a new development emerged when former Tory and Reclaim MP Andrew Bridgen, who previously worked with one of the complainants, said he had received her permission to clarify that Lowe was not personally involved in the complaint.

“The plot thickens. One of my former parliamentary aides went on to work for Rupert Lowe—she is one of the staff involved in these allegations against him. She has told me that her original complaint had nothing to do with Rupert personally and was related to the actions of another member of his staff. I have her permission to post this tweet.

“The main staff member involved has confirmed that her allegations are NOT about me. The second staff member’s allegations are also NOT about me. Reform must now retract and apologize.”

Despite Lowe’s firm denial, the King’s Counsel (KC) assigned to the case dismissed his claims that she had previously stated there was “zero credible evidence” against him. The lawyer clarified that she never expressed “dismay or shock” at any point during the investigation.

In a statement, she said, “I have seen a number of statements made by Mr Lowe MP which are attributed to me and which describe my reactions to the process conducted by the party into the allegations made against both Mr Lowe MP and his constituency manager.”

She continued, “I find myself in the unfortunate and regrettable position of having to make this statement to correct the record.” She further denied ever saying, “there is zero credible evidence against [Mr Lowe],” despite Lowe’s repeated claims to the contrary.

Reform’s chief whip, Lee Anderson, underscored the significance of the KC’s response, asserting that the lawyer had “publicly rebuked Mr Lowe for making false claims.”

“As the KC’s statement makes clear, the written complaints include allegations about the conduct of Mr Lowe. I ask that Mr Lowe respects the independence of the investigation and refrains from making further false public statements.”

Supporters Rally Behind Lowe

Despite these challenges, some of Lowe’s employees have come forward to defend him. A female staff member, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the accusations as “nonsense” and insisted that Lowe was a “good man” who was being subjected to an “unfair and horrific” ordeal.

Another employee echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Rupert is a good man who does not deserve any of this. He has done nothing wrong. The allegations aren’t against Rupert. I’ve not seen any evidence of any bullying from anyone in Rupert’s office. These claims are nonsense.”

The employee further described Lowe as a kind employer, adding, “This is wrong what they’re doing to Rupert.“

However, the growing tension within Reform has led to increasing divisions, with some insiders suggesting that the case has exposed deep fractures within the party. Over the weekend, Lowe doubled down on his position, calling the accusations “false and untrue,” and claiming he was the target of “political assassination.”

With both sides standing firm, the controversy surrounding Lowe continues to escalate, raising questions about the Reform Party’s internal management and the handling of misconduct allegations within its ranks.
