NPP Hoping Mahama Fails in Order to Win 2028 Elections

New Patriotic Party

Aspiring General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has declared his commitment to rebuilding and reigniting the NPP into a disciplined, forward-looking, and results-driven political force capable of reclaiming national confidence.

Speaking on his decision to contest the position of General Secretary, Mr. Boakye Antwi said his motivation stemmed from a deep conviction to restore the party’s organisational strength and reconnect its leadership with the grassroots.

He lamented what he described as “weak and disconnected” internal structures that, in his view, contributed significantly to the NPP’s disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections.

“I am contesting for the General Secretary position because I want to strengthen our party from the ground up. The NPP must operate efficiently at every level and remain a credible platform that delivers real results for Ghanaians.

“Our structures let us down in 2024. The results were not what a governing party of our stature should produce”

He stated that the party’s disappointing 2024 electoral outcome must serve as a wake-up call to rebuild confidence, enforce discipline, and refocus on the core values of loyalty, service, and accountability. “That’s why I’m offering myself to serve,” he added.

Modernising the Party

Eugene Boakye Antwi outlined his vision to transform the NPP into a modern, policy-driven political organisation grounded in innovation and inclusiveness.

He said his mission is to build an NPP that empowers Ghanaians, “especially the youth, women, and entrepreneurs,” through effective grassroots mobilisation and data-led decision-making.

The former Deputy Minister for Works and Housing underscored that the strength of every political party lies in its base and pledged to empower polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and constituency officers through continuous training, digital resources, and consistent logistical support.

“Once they are trained and resourced, they’ll have the confidence, skills, and motivation to go out there and deliver results for the party,” he explained. Mr. Boakye Antwi said adopting a data-driven culture would allow the party to make smarter decisions, shape campaigns effectively, and ensure that every message and policy is backed by measurable evidence.

He added that the NPP’s future must rest on modern organisation, inclusiveness, and measurable delivery built on the party’s historical legacy of transformative policies such as Free SHS, digitalisation, and infrastructure development.

“This is the time to consolidate our achievements. We must build a results-oriented NPP that inspires trust, empowers its people, and wins the future”

Unity and Consultative Leadership

The former Subin MP also pledged to adopt a consultative and inclusive approach to leadership, one that seeks to heal divisions and restore harmony within the party. He stressed that his administration, if elected, would be rooted in dialogue, mutual respect, and shared accountability.

“Unity is very critical. I plan to engage all factions constructively and transparently,” he said.

He cited the leadership examples of former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former President Nana Akufo-Addo, noting that both leaders succeeded in maintaining party cohesion while implementing significant national reforms.

“I will bring the same consultative approach to the party,” he stated.

Boakye Antwi said the road to unity must begin with responsible leadership, urging all party aspirants to exercise restraint in their public statements to prevent further divisions. “They must be guided by what they say. They must be measured out there because that is also part of the unity process,” he advised.

The aspiring General Secretary cautioned that careless or inflammatory remarks from flagbearer hopefuls could undermine the NPP’s image and deepen existing cracks within the party. He insisted that every aspirant has a duty to protect the unity of the NPP ahead of the 2028 elections.

Eugene Boakye Antwi expressed confidence that through collective discipline, strategic reform, and open engagement, the NPP can rebuild its structures and emerge stronger for the future.

“Unity is very critical. I plan to engage all factions constructively and transparently,” he said once more, underscoring the central theme of his campaign – unity through collaboration.
