Dennis Miracles Aboagye Cautions Prof. Gyampo Over Criticism

Professor Ransford Gyampo

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a leading communicator for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a stern warning to Prof. Ransford Gyampo, CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), over his public commentary on governance and politics.

Aboagye insisted that as a political appointee, Gyampo must exercise caution in his public statements and avoid what he describes as unnecessary confrontations with the citizenry.

“As a political appointee, you should be measured in how you address us, the ordinary Ghanaians. We will not take any form of attack on the citizenry from persons who are paid, fueled, and even entertained with our taxpayer’s money.”

His comments come in response to Gyampo’s recent declaration that he would activate ‘mouth cameras’ to hold the opposition party accountable, a remark the NPP Communicator found troubling.

Aboagye advised Gyampo to redirect his energy toward improving the country rather than engaging in political battles.

“Osei Bonsu OB simply made a point about you claiming the reason why you attacked the NPP government unwarrantedly was because you had no access to people in government to express your views privately and had no option but to attack them publicly at all times.”

“That is what I responded to and said categorically was a lie, and you know that’s a lie. You had access to the highest persons in the previous government and indeed engaged them almost all the time, so that could not have been your reason.”

Aboagye also accused Gyampo of deliberately tailoring his criticism of the previous administration to serve a political agenda rather than offering objective analysis.

He claimed that Gyampo’s frequent attacks on the government were not rooted in neutrality but were instead a strategic effort to align himself with the NDC.

To support his argument, Aboagye pointed to Gyampo’s recent appointment under the NDC-led government as evidence that his political leanings had been apparent all along.

He argued that despite repeated warnings about Gyampo’s bias, many had refused to believe it.

However, with his new role, Aboagye asserted that Gyampo’s true affiliations had now been exposed, leaving him to contend with the consequences of his perceived partisanship.

Criticism of Government’s Performance

Furthermore, Dennis Aboagye challenged Gyampo to focus his attention on the pressing issues facing the country, particularly the government’s handling of illegal mining, known locally as galamsey.

He called on Gyampo to use his platform to demand accountability from the current administration rather than deflecting attention onto ordinary Ghanaians.

“Your party is in power. Indeed, you did a ‘yeoman’s’ job in ensuring the previous government became unattractive using your professional position and role. That was impressive. But alas, you’ve lost that robe, and you have a responsibility to fix what you said was rotten. I suggest you focus on that.”

Aboagye criticized Gyampo for his apparent silence on the issue of illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, despite previously being outspoken on the matter.

He pointed out that while Gyampo had been vocal in holding the previous administration accountable, he now seemed absent from discussions at a time when galamsey had worsened.

He reminded Gyampo of the NDC’s campaign promises to tackle illegal mining and challenged him to advocate for their implementation.

Instead of responding emotionally to criticism, Aboagye urged Prof. Gyampo to use his platform to explain why galamsey had escalated in recent months.

He also noted that figures like Ken Ashigbey, who had joined Gyampo in demanding action from the previous government, were still actively raising concerns—while Gyampo remained conspicuously silent.

Demands For Action

Moreover, Dennis Aboagye highlighted a series of commitments made by the NDC to address the illegal mining crisis and called on Gyampo to ensure the government delivers on its promises.

He recalled that the NDC had pledged to declare a state of emergency to combat galamsey, enforce a total ban on small-scale mining, and prohibit mining activities in forest reserves.

Additionally, the party had vowed to repeal the Executive Instrument that permitted mining in protected areas.

Aboagye also reminded Gyampo of the NDC’s promise to release small-scale miners arrested in galamsey pits while shifting the focus to prosecuting the powerful individuals behind the trade. “These are not our expectations; these are your own promises. Simply fulfill them.”

Aboagye also challenged Gyampo to speak out on a recent incident involving an NDC chairman accused of interfering with military personnel during an anti-galamsey operation.

He urged Gyampo to advocate for the chairman’s arrest, emphasizing the importance of holding all individuals accountable regardless of their political affiliation.

He ended his remarks with a pointed message to Gyampo, asserting that the responsibility now lies with him to take a clear stance.

He warned that time was running out, urging him to set his priorities straight and focus on the real issues at hand.
