All is set for the forthcoming Ohio Ghana Festival, organizers of the prestigious event have confirmed.
Barring any unforeseen glitches, it is scheduled to take place in Columbus, Ohio, at the Discount Mall, 2765 S Hamilton Road, from July 31, 2025, to August 3, 2025.
Guinness World Records (GWR) contender, Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum, known in traditional circles as Nana Asantewaa Anomatsewaa l, will be among high-profile dignitaries like King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II for the four-day event.
Themed ‘Bridging cultures, celebrating heritage: Our Ghana beyond borders, ’ it is a premier event that brings together individuals, families, and communities to honor Ghanaian traditions through cultural performances, music, dance, food, and educational activities.
Afua Asantewaa, a women empowerment advocate who will also be performing at the event, praised the organizers for their efforts.
“I must commend the organizers for putting together such a brilliant project, indeed, it is an honour to be part of this festival. The theme sums up what we have been discussing over the years.
“I believe participants will leave the event empowered to transform their respective spheres of endeavours. And it is my prayer that the organizers annualize it.”

Salam Mustapha Refutes Afua Asantewaa’s Allegations
NPP National Youth Organiser and aide to the former Sports Minister, Salam Mustapha, strongly refuted claims made by Guinness World Record sing-a-thon contender, Afua Asantewaa, that she received no support from the NPP government during her attempt.
Afua Asantewaa stated that the only thing she got from the former NPP Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was sore throat medicine.
However, Mustapha insists this is untrue and has labeled her remarks as “falsehood and ingratitude.”
“This lady is not being truthful and quite ungrateful. In her first sing-a-thon attempt here in Accra, aside from Dr. Bawumia visiting her—which I played a role in with Sammi Awuku and Socrates—the Vice President donated GHC20,000 in cash, packs of Papaye food, bottled water, and soft drinks to her team. I personally did the donation on behalf of Dr. Bawumia to her husband and father.”

He further disclosed that after the event, Afua Asantewaa and her family personally visited the former Vice President to express their gratitude, after which Bawumia sponsored a vacation for her at Senchi.
“So, why the falsehood? We all supported her because we saw a young Ghanaian lady trying to make a mark for herself and challenge the world. I hope she doesn’t repeat this negative narrative again.”

Moreover, Afua Asantewaa revealed that her team had initially intended to stage her second sing-a-thon attempt in New York City, USA, following her widely publicized debut in Accra in December 2023.
Asantewaa eventually made her second attempt in Kumasi in December 2024. However, unlike the excitement surrounding her first effort, this follow-up was met with limited publicity, low public engagement, and a wave of criticism across social media platforms.
Reacting to the backlash, a visibly frustrated Afua Asantewaa addressed her critics in a social media video, questioning their motives and expressing her disappointment in their threats and lack of action.
In a surprising turn, Asantewaa disclosed that her team had originally set their sights on holding the second sing-a-thon attempt at the iconic Times Square in New York.
