Nigerian singer, Orezi, has set the record straight on social media trends linking him to extravagant gifts for women.

He dismissed claims of ever making a ridiculous promise worth ₦300 million, referencing the ongoing controversy involving Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy and socialite Sophia Egbueje.

“I’m not part of the Lamborghini boys. I have never promised a lady anything worth ₦300 million. Am I crazy?”

Orezi

However, he admitted that he once made a grand promise to a woman but didn’t follow through.

“I once promised a lady a house, but I didn’t deliver. Why would I buy her a house? For what?”

Orezi

The singer further emphasized that men aren’t the only ones who make unfulfilled promises in relationships.

“Ladies also promise to be faithful to one partner, and they often fail. So, let every gender keep promising. It’s a dog-eat-dog world.”

Orezi

Orezi’s remarks come amid heated discussions over Burna Boy’s alleged Lamborghini gift scandal, where reports claimed he bought a luxury car for Sophia Egbueje and later took it back.

His comments add a new perspective to the debate on high-profile relationships and the extravagant expectations that often come with them.

Orezi’s real name is Esegine Allen, who is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer. He gained widespread recognition in the Nigerian music industry with his hit song “Rihanna” in 2013.

Orezi is known for his versatility in Afrobeats, dancehall, and reggae music. His debut album, “The Ghen Ghen Album”, released in 2015, featured hits like Shoki, You Garrit, and Ogede.

Over the years, he has collaborated with major Nigerian artists such as Davido, Wizkid, and Flavour. In addition to his music career, the Nigerian artist has also been a judge on the popular singing competition and a brand Ambassador for a teleco.

The Nigerian singer revealed that he once received a whopping ₦30 million from a woman who simply “liked him.”

The “Rihanna” crooner shared his surprising experience, stating that the woman, whom he met in Abuja, gifted him the sum without any formal relationship between them.

“The highest amount of money I’ve received from a woman? I don’t want to mention the amount I received, but okay. It was 30 million Naira, back in Abuja. I wasn’t married to her or anything, she just liked me.”

Orezi

The singer opened up about how the experience shocked him, given how men are usually the ones who give such ground-breaking gifts. “If you like a woman, won’t you give her money?” he quizzed.

He noted that back in 2016, ₦30 million was a lot of money, thus adding to his shock about the gift.

“We weren’t dating but we had something going. It’s not like I needed money, I have money but she just gave me. We had fun at a club and the pretty Hausa woman gave me money.

“I was shocked, I can’t lie. She asked me when I was going to Lagos, I said the next day and the next day she asked for my account number and she sent the money.”

Orezi

Orezi noted that such experiences are not unusual in the entertainment industry, emphasizing that celebrities often enjoy certain privileges.

“A lot of artistes enjoy things like that, it’s a normal thing . There are privileges to being a celebrity the same way pretty women enjoy pretty privileges. Men enjoy it too, in fact there was a friend that I had in university whose school fees and provisions were handled by a woman. It’s a topic swept under the carpet a lot, women do things for men a lot. It’s not talked about.”
